Local pols raise cash to avoid RayHawks

Some local politicians are competing to raise cash for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pinellas County, and the one who comes up with the most cash will be spared the clippers at a public RayHawking tomorrow.

County Commissioner Ronnie Duncan has challenged Clearwater Mayor Frank Hibbard and St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Backer to take part. Hibbard is on board, and Baker has not committed. Baker recently balked at the idea of getting a RayHawk, saying his mother wouldn't approve.

Duncan and Hibbard are now taking donations through the Big Brothers Big Sisters Web site, which you can click on here.

The "final cut" takes place Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at the Pinellas Technical Education Center's Clearwater Cosmetology Program facility, 6100 154th Ave. N, near Largo. Donations will be accepted up until the last minute.
