Sickles teacher charged with DUI

TAMPA -- A Sickles High School teacher was arrested early this morning and charged with driving under the influence.

Thomas D. Shamburger Jr., of 202 Grand Court in Temple Terrace, was swerving while going south on 56th Street, according to an arrest affidavit. Sheriff's deputies stopped Shamburger on S Riverhills Drive. His blood-alcohol content was .180, more than twice the level at which a person is deemed impaired, the affidavit states.

Shamburger was taken to the Hillsborough County Jail, where he remains on bond of $500.
