St. Petersburg man arreseted on kidnapping, robbery charges

Roeshawn St. Petersburg Police have arrested a man they say was involved in a kidnapping and robbery two weeks ago.

Reo Roeshawn Weston, 24, of 2835 Freemont Ter. S (pictured), was arrested Sunday after he led police on a brief chase, police spokesman George Katjsa said.

On Oct. 2, Weston drove up to a man near 17th Avenue S and 43rd Street S about 6:25 p.m. and forced the victim into another man's car, police said. He briefly detained the victim, driving around area streets, before robbing him of about $300, police said.

The victim, Michael Jerome King, 29, freed himself by jumping out of the moving car, police said. He was not seriously injured.

Sunday, a street crimes officer saw Weston near 11th Street and 15th Avenue S and arrested him. Weston briefly entered a home as he fled from police, authorities said.

Weston was charged with robbery, kidnapping, fleeing a police officer, possession of marijuana and cocaine, and burglary.
