CLEARWATER - A driver crashed into a Clearwater house this morning causing significant damage, then fled the scene, according to the Clearwater Police Department.

The 1994 white Ford Crown Victoria first hit a light pole, mail box and another house at 2101 Hercules Avenue before traveling through the backyard at 2072 Butternut Circle W and smashing into the house. It happened at about 6:30 a.m. The driver has not been found.

Two people, Stephen Wyatt, 61, and Suzanne Wyatt, 59, were home at the time, police said. Suzanne was asleep in a bedroom and her husband was sitting in the family room. Stephen Wyatt was checked out by Clearwater Fire and Rescue but declined to be taken to the hospital. Police said he didn't have any obvious injuries.
