Delays at busy TIA

TAMPA -- Tampa International Airport reported some flight delays this morning -- one of the holiday week's busiest travel days.

Brenda Geohagan, TIA spokeswoman, said about a dozen flights scheduled to arrive and depart today are now delayed for more than 30 minutes, mostly out of cities in the northeast or midwest that are experiencing harsh winter weather.

That's a little more than normal, Geohagan said, but delays should drop later in the day once the weather improves.

About 25,000 people are coming into Tampa today while the same number are going out. Tomorrow will be the slowest day of the week, Geohagan said, with about 18,000 people traveling to Tampa and 18,000 traveling from Tampa.
