Quick arrest in Clearwater robbery

A Clearwater man, Angel Ramos-Ortiz, 35, robbed the Break Time convenience store at 23977 U.S. Highway 19 N at gunpoint around 9:15 Saturday evening, police said, but he did not get far. Ramos-Ortiz was arrested in the area without incident at 1:30 a.m. and charged with armed robbery. According to witnesses, Ramos-Ortiz entered the store, produced a handgun and demanded money. He also threatened a customer and took the customer's cell phone. He fled on foot. Some of the stolen cash was recovered when Ramos-Ortiz was arrested. He told detectives some of it had been spent on drugs. The gun and cell phone were not recovered, police said.
