Smooth flying at TIA

TAMPA -- It's smooth flying out of Tampa International Airport this morning, a day after the airport experienced scattered delays because of wintry Northeast weather.

As of 7:30 a.m., departures were on time at all of the airport's carriers, said Dave Nicewinter, assistant director of operations at the airport.

On Sunday, multiple flights were delayed because of snow storms in the New England area, Nicewinter said.

This week, the airport is warning drivers to be aware of recent traffic changes that include five new entrance ramps.

Airport officials have also compiled holiday travel tips to make your flight smoother. Among them is this tip: leave presents unwrapped when flying, just in case security officials need to inspect the package.
