Badly burned body found in northeast Hillsborough

TAMPA -- Deputies found burned remains of what appeared to be an adult in an abandoned trailer park lot Wednesday afternoon, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

At 3:30 p.m., deputies responding to a call about something suspicious on the property arrived at the vacant lot on Jefferson Road near U.S. 301 and found the victim, said J.D. Callaway, a spokesman for the Sheriff's Office. Investigators were not sure of the person's age, sex and cause of death.

The medical examiner's office will attempt to identify the person, Callaway said.
