Cross-dressing bank robber gets life in prison

DADE CITY -- A man convicted last year of robbing a Zephyrhills bank in a black wig, dress and high heels, then carjacking a woman when his getaway car crashed, was sentenced today to life in prison.

Lendrick Harris, 33, of Tampa, is a seven-time felon who's been to prison four times before. He told jurors in October that he couldn't have robbed the bank Dec. 10, 2003, because he was selling cocaine that day in Grant Park in Tampa.

Moreover, Harris told jurors there was no way he could've worn high heels because he has a bum ankle from an old dirt bike accident. And he pointed out that at 5-foot-8, he is several inches shorter than the robber described by witnesses as 6 feet or taller.

But DNA on the bank robber's dress and wig -- both left behind in the carjacking victim's car -- matched Harris. That woman picked Harris out of a photo lineup.

He was convicted of robbery, carjacking and kidnapping. His lawyer says they plan to appeal.

That's gotta be the best alibi in the history of the world. "I couldn't have done this crime, I was selling coke in Tampa!" What next?

This guy dosn't know how to tell a lie that is lawful,he is so use to comitting crimes,he thinks every one selling cocaine has a job like every one else. Solution, lock him and throw away the key

Ha...says he is only 5'8" so it couldn't be him because the perpetrator was described as around 6'. I wonder if his high heels were 3 or 4 inches? That would make him around 6'.
Apparently, the jury was better at math than he was. He'll have plenty of time to practice in prison though, since he will be adding the days he is incarcerated until his death. Death by Math...LOL
