Deputy involved in Dover car crash

DOVER -- A sheriff's deputy who collided this morning with a tree-service truck passed out due to a medical condition just before the crash, a sheriff's official said.

Deputy Ed Anctil was on patrol heading north on Dover Road at 10:15 a.m. when he suffered a medical problem, sheriff's Maj. Bill Davis said. His cruiser drifted into the opposite lane, colliding with a southbound truck owned by an Inverness tree service. The truck driver saw the sheriff's cruiser coming at him and was able to slow down, Davis said, estimating that the vehicles were going 15 mph to 25 mph when they collided about one-half mile north of Sydney Road.

The last thing Anctil remembers before the crash is passing through the intersection of Dover and Sydney roads, Davis said. Anctil was taken to University Community Hospital in Tampa. The 47-year-old truck driver, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to Brandon Regional Hospital. A woman passenger in the truck was not injured. None of the injuries appeared to be major, officials said.

Dover Road remained closed at Sydney Road late this morning.

Can someone explain to me why there is a deputy with a KNOWN medical problem on patrol in a 4000 pound killing machine. Come on now, there has to be a desk job somewhere.

Where did it state it was a KNOWN medical problem ? Law Enforcement folks are human also. Get a clue.

Well , maybe he did have medical condition and if it comes to be known he was ona medication that stated on label do not operate heavy machinery then you can makea statement like that but if he hada slight herat atack then no one has prior knowledge of this happening you area medical genious lmao
