Lowry Park Zoo lots at capacity for $5 day; be patient
TAMPA -- If you're heading to Lowry Park Zoo's $5 Conservation Day this afternoon, you might want to pack a little extra patience. Tampa police say the discount entrance fee has caused greater than usual attendance at the park, and the parking lots are at capacity.
Officers are asking that drivers not park in the surrounding neighborhoods.
Traffic along Sligh Avenue is heavy but extra officers are on duty to control the crowds and vehicles.
The zoo remains open until 5 p.m.

I'm really not impressed with Lowry Park "Zoo." Animals seem to be a secondary consideration. Too many rides, concessions, and other junk. I guess I was spoiled by the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. which is really wonderful.

Lowry Park is a wonderful zoo! It's well kept and we think it's a better deal than Animal Kingdom. MY KIDS ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!

Lowry Park Zoo is awesome:

Yesterday wasn't a problem, either. The zoo is large enough to handle such a large crowd.
As to those who somehow fail to see the animals and/or miss the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. ... who wants to live in Washington, D.C.? It could have the most wonderful zoo in the entire world but that wouldn't justify living with that traffic.
Enjoy what you have.
