Residents chase two home invaders off with gun

SEMINOLE -- A man and a woman chased away armed home invaders today with a gun of their own.

About noon, two men knocked on the door of a residence on Bonnie Terrace in Seminole, near the 12100 block of 86th Avenue N. When the residents opened the door, the men barged inside. Deputies say one was armed with an automatic pistol.

The men demanded the residents fill a sack with valuables. Then the male resident got in a fight with one of the suspects, who hit him with the pistol. Meanwhile, the woman pulled out a gun, leading the men to flee in a getaway car driven by another person.

The male resident then grabbed the gun from the woman and ran outside, firing at the men as they fled. He was treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Deputies are asking for the public's help in identifying the men. They are described as white men in their early 20s with dark hair. They were wearing dark clothing and one wore a dark knit cap. They describe the getaway car as an early 1990s model 4-door Taurus or a Mercury Sable. They say the car is white and one of the windows on the driver's side appeared to be shot out.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Jim Beining of the Robbery/Homicide Unit at (727) 582-6200 or to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-873-8477.

Wonder if such home invasions are actually random? It's really taking a chance if they just hope the residents have items of value or money on hand. The smart burlgars wait until the house is unoccupied; the invaders usually get caught. I like my Saiga-12 shotgun; even if my aim is a little off, still bound to hit some of their fleeing flesh.

Too bad he missed.... Now these crack heads are going to try and rob someone else but this time they might actually hurt someone.

hope these terds pick my house, they,ll be stuck to the bottom of my shoe!
