Police say photo-swapping teacher, student did not see each other outside school

ST. PETERSBURG -- Azalea Middle School teacher Christy Lynn Martin and an eighth-grade boy called each other "husband" and "wife," kissed each other and apparently sent each other cell phone photos of their private parts, according to police.

But they did not have sex and did not see each other outside of school, according to information contained in a search warrant.

Martin, 32, was arrested last month on charges of transmitting pornographic images through an electronic device and transmitting material harmful to a minor.

The search warrant, written by a St. Petersburg police detective, alleges that:

• The 14-year-old boy said he took two photos of himself on his silver Samsung Messenger cell phone, and the teacher admitted taking three photos of herself on her red Sprint cell phone.
• The boy sent his photos to Martin, and Martin acknowledged receiving them. She also admitted sending the photos of herself, but officials deleted the name of who she sent them to. Photos of a woman's genitals did appear on the boy's cell phone.
• Martin did not admit to calling the boy her husband but did say she threatened him with "divorce," because he had "too many little girlfriends."
• The document also says the boy touched Martin on her buttocks outside her clothing, but that she did not touch him that way.

In the warrant, Detective Dave Wawrzynski sought permission to review the contents of Martin's cell phone. A judge granted the request.

At Azalea Middle, Martin taught five computer classes and one "life choices" course, which involved teaching students about positive relationships, self-esteem building and conflict resolution. The boy was not a student of hers this year. Martin has been placed on administrative leave.

Wow, I wish I had a teacher like that when I was 14. The only problem would have been when I was that age all my teachers were 65 or 70 years old. Yuck, now that would be a crime. So she teaches a course on "life choices", YaThink..

I remember my 10th grade English teacher, Miss Bonnie M********. She was usually a few minutes late to class but we could hear her coming up the hall by the click-clack of her high heels. Every teenage boy in that class in 1962 (including myself) desired her. She was a beautiful woman with a great figure and wore fashionable clothes that complimented her!! But there was NEVER any fact, rumor or speculation that she had something going with a male student -- only in our dreams. All the boys werel heartbroken when she told us one day she was getting married. I don't know but maybe some of the girls in the class were relieved. Ahhhhhh, Memories .......
