Orange you glad to be a Buc?

171870

Pro Bowl linebacker Derrick Brooks isn’t ashamed. He wants the Bucs to wear throwback orange uniforms in a game, and the franchise’s first appearance on Thanksgiving Day at Dallas is the perfect opportunity.

Brooks, fullback Mike Alstott and tight end Dave Moore are the only players remaining who wore orange before the team changed its colors to red and pewter in 1997.

“I’ve been vetoed,” said Brooks, a first-round draft pick in 1995. “I like the orange. Our younger players, they want to wear it. They’re not embarrassed about our franchise history and the colors. They want to wear it and I want to wear it.”

Brooks, who wants the franchise to create a Ring of Honor to recognize former players, is proud of his first NFL uniform. He has it framed at his home, complete with Bucco Bruce helmet. But so far, his throwback pleas have been rejected.

“It’s a policy with the NFL, and I understand it starts with them about the uniforms,” Brooks said. “I guess it’s really not totally up to our owners, from what I understand. But if you want something done, you can get it done.”

PLEASE WEAR THEM!!!! I'D LOVE TO SEE THOSE. I'll bust out my old Dilfer jersey and wear it!

yes, please break out the bucco bruce jerseys once!

but not in texas stadium. wait for a home game.

and brooks is absolutely right: there should be a Ring of Fame at the stadium. of course, the glazers won't spring for it, so it would have to be sponsored by some two-bit cable company like out house networks.

isn't ironic that a pewter partner is refusing to pick up nfl network, but it can pipe into your home 30 different shopping channels and stations on the digital tier that maybe get 20 viewers a half-hour?

(sorry for the rant. i feel better now).

No cream-sickle uniforms! Even today I still have nightmares about those jerseys. Wearing them brings back so many let-downs and disappoinments. It was a new day, a new era when the pewter was unvaled. That change might have been one of best moves ever in sports. Lets not roll back the clock.

I love the orange!!! I took awhile to convince me to like the new colors when they changed. I agree it should be at a home game though.

Let them wear the creamsicle! Give Brooks, Alstott, and Moore a chance to feel young again! We don't know if we'll ever get another chance to see them in the original Bucs gear.

In general I'm against wearing the old orange jerseys but if the season is lost come December and Brooks & a majority of other players want it, why not? But please no orange in Texas Stadium. It would bring back memories of those early 80's playoff blowouts.

Let it be a traditional to let the True
Buc Fans that Have stood by all those loosing and die hearted years. The ones that don't want to bring those jerseys is the ones that don't have any.
I stll got my Orange and White winking pirate Jackets. Bring It on against all
NFL North Teams (Chicago,Minn,GB & Detroit). When we play those teams we will have something Extra to play for. I call it pay back for all those bad years.
