Nice New Digs

Tp_247979_wall_bucs_2s

The Bucs officially moved into their new facility Sunday and, man, is it an impressive place.

Sticking with their stealth-like persona, the Bucs limited the view given to the media to the 12,000-square foot weight room, but even that was enough to overwhelm. The workout area has two-story high glass windows that overlook the three practice fields that are ready to go for Monday's workout. It also features a powerful sound system and large LCD televisions on which a highlight reel of last season was playing.

Coach Jon Gruden awoke early Sunday morning and was given his first tour of the facility by general manager Bruce Allen, and he was still bubbling about it early in the afternoon.

The $30-million facility is being billed as the best in professional sports, and it just might be once completed. For now, workers are still scurrying around putting the finishing touches on the complex, which likely won't be finished until late next month.

Linebacker Derrick Brooks took the tour Sunday, too, and he loved everything from the huge locker room to the state-of-the-art meeting rooms with digital video equipment. But there was one thing Brooks liked best: his personalized parking space. One is reserved for each team captain.

And that puts the differences of the new facility in a nutshell. At One Buc Place, the closest thing to a reserved parking space was the strip of grass across the street!
