Barber: hyperbole or reality?

Cornerback Ronde Barber made a startling comment to Sports Illustrated's Peter King this week, saying the following:

"I would bet you that every player in the NFL knows someone who has been to a dogfight."

We're not sure whether Barber is being a wiseguy here or just speaking what he truly believes. I plan to ask him when the Bucs report to camp tomorrow in Celebration. This one could need a little clarification. Hard to believe that a blanket statement like that would apply to everyone in the NFL. But we're not naive enough to think that Michael Vick has the market cornered on dogfighting, either.

If Barber has anything to add, we'll let you know right here.

Comments

I guess we can assume that Barber has been to a dog fight, possibly placing a wager? If thats true, then that is sad because he is one of the few good things about the Bucs. If its not true, than why would he say something so stupid? Its funny how these guys think they're tough watching dog fights like the cowards they really are!

he said "knows" clowns. Not "goes"

good point. in fact even holder "knows" someone who has been to a dog fight. Vick! Here's some more hyperbole for you: "i bet every sports fan in america knows someone who has been to a dog fight!

Hey, Stephen Holder is a good guy. Just not very logical. Give him a break. He is a reporter. Reporters don't take logic in college. He's just a little jealous that Rhonde has a degree from UVA and his is from DeVries Institute.

It's DeVry Institute schmuck. And I was top of my class.

This stream is not funny. Holder had a chihuahua that was killed by a pit bull.

It's alright Mrs. Holder, I bought Stephen another one.

Logical? What is the logic Barber is trying to make? If everyone knows someone that has been to a dog fight, then its okay? Thats pretty stupid.
