Boston practices, could play at Miami
David Boston participated in the Bucs' walk-through practice today and will accompany the team to Miami for Saturday night's preseason game againt the Dolphins.
Coach Jon Gruden will decide whether Boston plays.
Boston was arrested Thursday night in Pinellas Park on charges of driving under the influence. Police say he was found passed out on the steering wheel of his truck at the intersection of 49th Street and Park Blvd., in Pinellas Park.
He was arrested after police conducted a field sobriety test. A subsequent breath test revealed no alcohol and results of a a urine test are pending.
Police say Boston told them he had recently left the Celebration Hotel near Orlando and was headed to Tampa International Airport. Well, the Bucs checked out of their training camp home more than a week ago, so none of that makes sense.
The feeling here is that the Bucs believe these charges won't stick and there might have been another reason for Boston's condition.
At any rate, the Bucs almost always wait until all the facts are known in a case before commenting.
By now, Boston has told team officials his side of the story. They're letting him travel with the team and he will likely play.

Thanks, Rick, for a post that informs without any bias. We need more of those!

if he passed a breathalyser, we should all wait for the results of the urine test. This being pre-season, I really don't think anybody who is doing as well as Boston would do any form of banned drugs. I am curious to see exactly what happened.I hope Boston makes the team and helps us get to the playoffs.

This just in, the Bucs have signed Michael Vick to a 3 year deal. The deal also includes his brother Marcus Vick, who will be playing out Michael's contract while he is serving time.
Apparently, Rae Carruth will be getting out of jail soon for good time served and said his first stop will be One Buc Place to compete against the overrated busts at WR.
Seriously, can someone explain the Chucky tattoo Boston has on his right pec as reported on numerous sports radio stations this afternoon? If thats true, I may have a seizure from laughter.

You guys trying to say that the Police are going after these players are ridiculous! Whats a cop supposed to do to a guy sleeping at a stop light? Sing him a lullaby?

I just watched the video at http://tbo.com/video/xml/MGBMLUB3R5F.html and I dont see what he failed, yes david was a little wirey but, he passed all the tests. I played ball at a college level and I cant do those tests ( balance test even when I am sober) everything will come up roses for boston...hopefully he is cleaning up his act...The link I attached shows the whole DUI test video

I've given thousands of field sobriety tests, Boston passed from what I've seen. The cop knew he was taken him in the moment he walked up on him sleeping in his car. The FST was a formality. They mentioned he had a nastygmus. All people have a nastygmus, some have a higher degree naturally, and a dietary supplement could easily cause what the officer described. As for him not knowing where he was at, if he was so tired as to fall asleep at the wheel, it is not unbelievable that he was slightly incoherent in the moments after the officers woke him. He appeared perfectly sober and coherent by the time he was taking the FST, which I imagine was 10 to 15 minutes after the first officer arrived. Boston definitely deserves the benefit of the doubt in this case and everyone should wait for the results of the urine test before making rash statements.

I watched the video, he looked fine to me. If the urine teast comes back negative, Boston was only guilty of one thing, DWB. Driving while black.

While I also agree that Boston passed the field sobriety test, the fact that he fell alseep at an intersection meant that he should have been taken in for evaluation. I don't agree with how the policeman handled the situation, but I do believe that he should have had his blood tested as Boston himself requested.
I used to be a nurse, and work night shift, and I must say, that on my long commute home, I fell asleep at the wheel at traffic lights. I would play music as loud as I could, tried to sing to the music (while slurring my words), so I can seen how that happened. But I also can say that I should not have been on the roads when that tired. And Boston should not have been on the road when that tired.

Originally I figured Boston screwed up and got busted, but after watching that video the whole thing looks very borderline to me. David looked very sober to me. I think the cop was looking for a big bust.

It appears he is going to be cleared darn it all. I really look like a complete tool over at http://bbs.buccaneers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=9 I could be the dumbest sub-human on the surface of this planet. Check out all the posts about how I am not even a fan of the bucs and that I hate David Boston. I am definately no judge of football talent. I'm a moron.

This was clearly the famous Pinellas Park cops doing what they are known best for... harrassment. I live right next to Pinellas Park, in Largo. Pinellas Park is dominated by red neck cops, so it is very likely that Boston violated their DWB policy

Mike, why is it harrassment to stop and breathalize and DUI check a guy sleeping at a red light!? He could have killed someone if he rolled out into the middle of the intersection or if someone rear ended him. You all like to play the race card on the dumbest incidents making you look like crybaby idiots! If the cop let him go after he answered one question, they would be playing favorites to a has-been NFL player.

Vajaja, no it is not harrassment to check out a guy passed out at a light. The harrassment started when the tests started. Check out the police video and take the tests along with Boston and see how you do. Then check out this article someone else posted on another thread http://colorado-dui.com/parts/Images/outrageous.pdf Harrassment does happen regardless of skin color
