Bucs to Plummer: Pay up
Don't plan on seeing Jake Plummer in a Bucs uniform anytime soon.
The Bucs, in tandem with the Broncos, have filed a grievance against Plummer for the return of a prorated portion of his signing bonus for a breach of contract. It's a move that effectively ends any chance Plummer will play for the Bucs.
Plummer was traded from Denver to Tampa Bay in March but said at the time he planned to retire from the NFL. However, the Bucs own his rights and contract and believe they have the right to recoup money paid to Plummer in a lump sum after he signed his contract because he did not fulfill the five-year commitment.
The Bucs continued to hold out hope Plummer would report. Coach Jon Gruden traveled to the player’s native state of Idaho to make a face-to-face appeal over the summer but Plummer didn't budge. Once the start of training camp came and Plummer didn't show, the Bucs pretty much decided to take advantage of the remedies available to them.
The teams are seeking a sum of about $7-million, but the matter will have to go through arbitration to be settled. That likely will take several months.
The Broncos are believed to have joined forces with the Bucs to avoid questions as to whether the Bucs have a legal standing to pursue money that originally was paid by the Broncos. It’s possible the teams have an agreement under which the Broncos would send their portion of any recouped money to Tampa Bay.

Part of the problem is Plummer owns a rottweiler.

Rottweilers are mean. I would sue him for owning one too, plus he throws like Lucy.

You COWARDS who keep posting the dog fighting comments need to give it a rest. If you are such a man, post your name.

Oops me again. Keep forgetting to post my name. Anyway, it's going to be a dog day afternoon here at camp. Very hot. We'll keep you posted.

I bet Rick might have grounds for a law suit with you posting his name!!

Keith, go back and play with your chihuaha and stop threatening others.

The Glazers are showing us they are squeezing $ out of the NFL by skinning the snake and being frugal with the Bucs' payroll (well under cap). Are they doing this to fund that awful sport - soccer? Children and washed up athletes play soccer in the USA. Do fans of the NFL want to transfer their funds to support that awful sport? That is what is what the Glazers are doing.

Darren,
Welcome to the dog pack! Finally a real football post! Can't stand the LA soccer player myself. Also, when they get rid of simms they'll have even more money.
Keith you're obviously not a lawyer!

The Rowdies will rise again!!!!!!

Well Darren, if I had Simms as a starting QB for a year, I would be more into soccer too. Oh, i know, i know, he's such a tough guy playing with a bad spleen. That probably didn't happen until the end of the game (TD leap) and if it happened earlier in the game, what does that say about a QB who's been in the league for a few years and his best game is with a bad spleen? Do they have to stab him to make him play better before a game? We won't know for sure since he is a goner! Trade bait? Yeah right, the only bait he would be is hanging off the back of a boat

Wow. DR. Two words. Anger management. Easy there rottweiler.

Dog man, I critizied you on the previous thread, so now you post using my name? Use your own name coward, or better yet, get a life and quit this nonsense as you are not funny at all. You are just an annoying troll.
Posted by: Daniel | August 08, 2007 at 11:23 AM
I think a rott can take down a troll. GO BUCS!
Posted by: Dog Man | August 08, 2007 at 01:11 PM
Quit posting using my name Daniel or else I will let the dogs out.
Posted by: Daniel | August 08, 2007 at 01:12 PM
Daniel, if you let the dogs out we'll finally have our question answered.

I am still waiting for a call from Gruden. If Simms can make the roster so can I.
Posted by: Vinnie Testaverde | August 08, 2007 at 01:41 PM
Come on Daniel. You're no Daniel. You're a Daniella. What guy calls someone "an annoying troll"?
Posted by: | August 08, 2007 at 02:57 PM
Gruden has been calling me and asking me to come out of retirement. I told em I would but only for a good coach.

A Seventh Round pick for 7 million dollars. You don't have to be Jewish to know that's a good deal... Oie Vie
Posted by: Brian Glazer | September 02, 2007 at 12:30 AM
Oh, please... As if Gruden were the personnel director or something. This is the same coach who took us where Dungy (owner of a QB and receivers so good, they made it so he couldn't fail, no matter how offensively inept he is as a coach) never could. Were it not for Gruden, the Bucs would still be without a Superbowl APPEARANCE, let alone a victory. Get him a REAL QB before you start criticizing him. Get on ALLEN'S case, not Gruden's.

The bucs have the same problem they always have had.....the hole in the ozone over 1 Buc Place. If it wasn't for the team wearing those new chuckie hats his first year we never would have won that year either.

If the idiot Plummer is fighting for the money, he doesn't have a leg to stand on. he quit early, he needs to repay the money. Can't stand greedy players who want money to sit at home and grumble.

Darren, Why complain about having room under the salary cap? Do we not remember how many players the Bucs lost after '02, many because, even with all the restructured contracts, they still couldn't find enough room under the cap? I'm glad they finally have a bit of breathing room.
