Gradkowski mentioned in point-shaving article
Bucs backup quarterback Bruce Gradkowski is mentioned in an ESPN.com article about a football and men's basketball point-shaving investigation that could generate federal charges at Toledo, where Gradkowski played quarterback from 2003-05.
Authorities have not spoken about Gradkowski's possible connection, but sources told ESPN.com FBI investigators are examining his playing time in a number of games under scrutiny as they follow up on an allegation that the manager of a family-owned grocery story in Detroit had offered a Toledo player $10,000 to sit out particular games, the story says.
Here is the story.

Maybe this explains his performance in the Dallas game last year - he definitely took that game off!

How does a QB shave any points when he's running for his life every game.
Get real.

maybe that explains all his missed throws...no..no, B Grad just has a weenie arm, what was I thinking.

Thats right, Grad plays defense and gives up 5 TDs to Romo!

What a non-story. Grads has not been questioned by authorities, has admitted to knowing the gambler in question,so he has told the truth. There is no evidence to this nonsense as Grads performance was outstanding in college. This story reeks of a slow news day up in Toledo.

This article is about when he "wasn't" in the game, not when he "was." How can you shave points when you're breaking NCAA records? Stupid article just looking to make some headlines and ruin another person's credibility. Leave our future starter, pro-bowler and SB winner alone!

skylar, are you crazy grad is our future? pro bowler? sb winner? i hope you were being sarcastic. if he is our future then we need to put on the old uniforms, because that is what our team will be playing like. he is a 3rd stringer at best. cant throw over 17 yrds. not a starter.

a76 doesn't know what you are talking about. Why would I jest concerning somebody who owns multiple NCAA and NFL QB records? He'll be the next S Young and nimrods like yourself are going to run him out of town before he develops. He outplayed V Young last year, who won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award, but you can't look past the team's win/loss record. Do you recall how bad our defense was last year? Did you see all those dropped TD passes? Do you not realize that we had the youngest offense in the NFL last year, starting 3 rookies? Do you not see him outplaying everyone around him right now? Wake up, do some research, try to understand player development and how much further along he is compared to other QB's and give him a chance to shine.

grad did NOT outplay vince young. young had more passing yrds, rushing yrds, passing td's, rushing td's, higher passer rating, 6 straight wins, with 4 come from behind wins including 3 straight and an 8-5 record as a starter. i reaize how young we were on the o-line it cost simms a spleen. arent you running simms out of town before he develops? take your own advise and let simms develop.

Young's QB rating was 2 pts higher - oh yeah, and he was the #1 overall pick. I'd say, all things considered, Grad outplayed Young on a per game basis. Grad also set two NFL QB records concerning protecting the ball. The wins are a team stat, not QB stat. Simms is in his 5th year. In his 4th year he posted a QB rating of 46.3. Grad had 20 pts higher with less opening day starters and in his rookie year. I'm not going to get into a battle of witts with someone who lacks ammo. It seems painfully obvious who has the upside here.

lacks ammo? get you facts right kurtis, HE WAS THE #3 PICK! mario was #1, bush #2. wins were a team stat, true but isn't that what a qb is supposed to do, lead his team to victory? the rushing & passing were individual stats that you cannot dispute. they were better than grads. up side, i think you are in the minority on that one kurt. young definatly has more upside. all things considered you argument has no hard facts to support grad is better than young.

ok, lets stop being childish. my claim was an upside over simms, not young. i never said he was better than young - but that he outplayed him with all things considered. you are twisting my words and re-directing your argument because your case for simms is not very strong. young was the first qb taken and grad went in the 6th round. that said, grad outplayed young in my opinion. but the meat of your disagreement is that I believe grad is better than simms period. to play devil's advocate concerning leadership; do you think b johnson led our team to a SB or maybe t dilfer led the Ravens or s king to the NFC Championship game - and the list goes on and on? it's a false premise and argument. leaders come from all over the field; not just the QB position. teams win games together. grad came lights out last year and did his part to lead our team to victory, but the "team" spiraled downward. he had no help whatsoever last year, you have to admit. simms should go to ir or practice squad and try to earn his way back onto the roster with his play - which is subpar to grads; plain and simple.

i just responed to your comments about young/grad. the qb is the single most important position on the field. yes brad led the bucs, dilfer led the ravens and shaun led us to the nfc championship game. teams win but qb's lead the team to victory. you think grad is better and i think simms is. grad was never lights out. not once last year. but neither was simms.

Can't see how he could shave any points without being found out. He is not that great a ballplayer. If he is so deliberate, then it is time to get rid of him.
