Kenyatta: "The record speaks for itself"
We just had to share this because we know how polarizing Kenyatta Walker can be around here. As you might already know, the former Bucs offensive tackle has signed with the Panthers. Today, he gave his first interview.
He said he has no issues with the Panthers defensive lineman, including Kris Jenkins, with whom he once had a run-in. Ditto, he said, with Julius Peppers, who typically dominated Walker in their intense, twice-yearly matchups.
Then, talk turned to the Bucs and Walker's feelings toward the organization.
"I have nothing bad to stay about Gruden and all of that," Walker said. "But the record speaks for itself. They only won one Super Bowl over there and I was the starting right tackle. I don't think they're winning one anytime soon."
"What happened over there, a lot of it was (because of) how young I was at the time. There was not a lot of trust and appreciation for each other. I've moved on, but the record speaks for itself."
If the record does speak for itself, I'm not sure what it says. Any thoughts?

I guess getting manhandled two times every year wasn't enough for this first round flop. Now he gets it everyday. I think the Defense was a major reason the Bucs won the Superbowl. I'm pretty sure it was not the "stellar" play of Kenyatta.

Hahahaha, are you kidding me ? This whiny failure of a first round draft pick is so delusional that he takes credit for the Superbowl victory? Let's face it, the Bucs won it all that year DESPITE Kenyatta Walker in the line-up. Now he is gonna wear an apron in Julius Pepper's house.
Good riddens !

Glad to see Kenyatta has moved on in his life. Far be it from him to be petty now that he is so much more mature.
Have the Panthers had him drug tested yet? Because his Super Bowl memories sound like the rantings of Dr. Timothy O'Leary on acid!

come on now guys, lets not forget he was our starting left tackle for a number of years and during the suber bowl run. he definatly gave us a few hard times, but he had some good years for us. he was cut and he feels a little bitter. its natural. but he was on our SB team so we have to cut him some slack and give him some respect.

He was on a super bowl team. He's just a mediocre tackle, if that. But his best point is he is playing for a better team now and Tampa has no shot or future right now with their personnel, and more importantly, their coaching staff. They have drafted mediocre talent

As bad as Kenyatta was at times I can almost guarantee you will see his best ball ahead of him and chances are he will be so fired up against the Bucs and the defense he won't allow a sack!

Walker won't even play against the Bucs this year, unless the Panthers have injuries. He is a backup there, which is where he belongs.

What record? Most penalties in a row?
Posted by: Kevin | August 15, 2007 at 11:13 AM
The record says:
"Holding: Number 67 of the Offense, ten-yard penalty, repeat first down."

Hey Aaron, I usaully don't like to piont out others mistakes, but Walker was the right side tackle. His only contribution to the team was a record number of false starts, and his bad attitude. The most unfortunate thing about his time in Tampa is that it was far to long.
I'm very happy to see Kenyatta go to Carolina, and I truely hope he gets to start. I believe all Buc fans would enjoy watching Gaines Adams line up across from Kenyatta Walker.

who does this dude think is. This man just got signed at the halfway point of training camp. he wasn't cut for finical reasons, he was cut cause he sucked. i hope gaines and whoever plays against him smacks him around like J.P. and Kris did. Another thing i bet he won't even make the 53 man roster cause he sucks!!!!!!! Sucks, sucks, sucks

you are right jason he was only a left tackle his rookie year. my apologies. he had his issues, most notably against his new teammates but he had a few decent years for us. and he DID help us win a superbowl.
Posted by: aaron | August 15, 2007 at 01:05 PM
Aaron, you must not know much about football if you actually believe he helped us win the super bowl. that comment is laughable
Posted by: Bill | August 15, 2007 at 02:12 PM
Hey I helped the Bucs win a superbowl too! Would you like some quality H20 with your 50th false start Mr. Walker?
Posted by: Waterboy | August 15, 2007 at 02:31 PM
Jason, Let me POINT out your Mistake. To bad there isnt spell check here.

Pete very good phrase kinda sums up walkers career heres some more " false start number 67 offense 5 yards repeat first down" or how bout this one "and number 67 gives up another big sack" glad the panthers have to deal with him now cuz he was mediocre on his best games (see Cleveland Browns game)

young william, as much as you dont like him, he was on the team. he started. therefore he was the best on the team at his position. he turned out not to be the player we thought he was going to be, but he DID help us win the SB! check the game log son. pittman attacked oakland mostly behind the blocking of the right side, cosey coleman and kenyatta. know your history.

If he plays in Tampa this year for the Panthers , I look forward to hearing the words I heard so much in Tampa---"Holding, Number 67, 10 yard penalty"
Posted by: tom | August 16, 2007 at 08:25 AM
Walker was a joke, he wasn't good at his position he was good enough. Thanks for being good enough now move one. Aaron you are right that I ran mostly behind the right side. I bet I would have had more yards if I ran to the left side. Stop living in the past, lets concentrate on the future and get another run at a ring. How does this sound, "Pittman up the gut!!"

I was thinking of all the crappy times Walker gave us (yeah, those are obvious). But a first round bust that actually logged some significant playing time.....what are the positives to remember from him? As much as nobody wants to believe it, the offensive line seriously stepped it up during the Super Bowl run even with mediocre talent. Roman Oben moved on to clear holes for LT (why couldn't we have let Walker go then?). In the later years where Walker was still in action, he did have the most tackles whenever we were intercepted. Most of them were TD saving tackles. If nothing else, he did care about the team, not sure he had good focus or work ethic though. I hope he'll be running down our D after a pick for the next few years to come....

Kenyatta Walker is the best offensive lineman in the NFL and it's a shame that the Bucs and their fans don't realize he was the greatest Buccaneer of all time as well!

He's a sorry tackle, who we traded up for in the first round. I'm glad he is gone, but he'll be on the bench in Carolina. If he does play against us, I can't wait to Spires run over him or Adams round around him.
Posted by: Aarun | August 16, 2007 at 01:17 PM
I hope he starts.

Ya know, typically, I can only wish the best to any young athlete. here's a guy who seemingly had all the skills. A loaded toolbox. But above that, an empty heart. Not to mention a non functional brain. Often times success and failure comes down to attitude. heart. desire.
KW has none of the above.
His comments on the Bucs is all that it takes to see through his character, or lack thereof.
What A Puke!!!
