Meet your new fullback: Michael Pittman

Michael Pittman let the cat out of the bag in the locker room just now: he's going to be the starting fullback. Not sure if that was a slip or if he had permission to let that be known, but either way, it seems to be the case.

"We've been practicing on that all through the summer, me and the coaches," Pittman said. "My running backs coach (Art Valero) and Coach Gruden came to me and asked me about it, so most likely, I'll be starting at fullback this year."

To let Pittman tell it, the guy isn't going to come out of the game.

"I'll still have the same role playing tailback and third-down back when Caddy gets tired. I'll be bouncing back and forth. With me, I'm just trying to help the team and get on the field any way I can."

The guy really is a versatile player who every coach would LOVE to have on his team. This is just another way the Bucs see they can take advantage of his multiple talents.

I think Pittman would be a great addition at fullback. I mean dont get me wrong, Mike Alstott is the main reason I became a bucs fan about 11 years ago or so. He is probably the mosst humble person in NFL and is the ultimate team player, but I would rather see him retire healthy and walking then the other way around if he hurt his neck worse. Anyway, Pittman has great speed and great size for the position. Cadilac and Pittman would make a pretty amazing backfield because they are both dinamic players. Although Pittman is not a natural fullback he would do a great job. Hes got good recieving skills and good instincts. Not to mention the expierence. He is also a good team player, it seems like he would play any position the bucs asked him to play, as long as he can get on the field and help us get a win. Go BUCS!!

I also think this is a great move by Gruden. I wouldn't mind seeing this guy play safety either; can you imagine getting mauled by Pittman across the middle? Just a fun thought, but FB is very realistic and I think would work with positive results.
