Post-game news

Here's the latest from postgame interviews:

Jon Gruden says Paris Warren is done for the year. Gruden seemed to think Warren sustained a badly dislocated ankle, but most seemed to think it was a broken leg. Either way, it was a tough break for a kid who made great strides in the game before his injury.

Now, regarding Chris Simms, it just gets weirder. He said tonight that he opted not to play because he hurt his hip in practice on Tuesday. He said it's nothing serious, but he just didn't think he could scramble if necessary. Now, when I asked Gruden, he became very irritated. He said he didn't know anything about any injury and was kind of miffed about the whole topic. He said I should ask Chris about it.

For his part, Simms says he doesn't want to go on injured reserve and thinks he is close to overcoming his physical issues. He even hinted that he might be ready to go at Seattle in the opener, if necessary. But none of this will matter if the Bucs cut Simms, which remains a distinct possibility.

Thankfully, this will be over soon. Final cuts are due Saturday evening. Can't wait.

Putting a player like Simms on IR who clearly wants to play in '07 would be a completely classless move by GruAllen. Therefore, I suspect it is already in the works.

putting simms on ir wouldnt necessarily be bad. that would guarantee him a roster spot thru the yr. we all hope gruden/allen will get fired at the end of this year and hopefully take garcia w/ him. this gives him time to recover and try and get his #1 spot back next year. maybe under Cowher or monte or even charlie weis. cowher and weis both did well w/ the bigger, strong armed qb's. maybe they could help develop chris the same way

Time to get rid of Chris Simms and move on. If his last name wasn't Simms, he wouldn't even be in the NFL because he would never have seen the field in college @ Texas. Major Appplewhite was a better QB at Texas, just ask any Longhorn fan.

gruden sounds more short-tempered this year than in past years. what say you, Mr. Sportswriter?

Some of you people really sadden me with your anti-Gruden, anti-Bucs comments. You folks need to get a clue or find a new team to bash!
Go-BUCS
Been a BUCS Fan/Supporter since 76, and will still be a BUCS Fan/Supporter all you fair weather fans are gone.

Cut Simms, we'll be fine with Garcia and mccown as a backup. Worse Case Scenario: Bucs win the Brian Brohm sweepstakes and get a new coach.

Why not cut Gradkowski and Simms and sign Byron Leftwich who could easliy be our QB of the future. To all you fire Gruden people, who would you bring in? Cower is not coming and do you think he really is the answer anyway? I think we should give him a chance now that the lost draft picks are back and the dreadful salary cap situation has been cleaned up.
