Trotter's workout complete
Former Eagles linebacker Jeremiah Trotter just completed a workout with the Bucs, along with a familiar face to Bucs fans: former Tampa Bay linebacker Al Singleton.
Trotter has been in Tampa since last night, and it's believed the Bucs are considering making an offer. Trotter was released by Philadelphia on Tuesday with three years left on his contract.
As for what happens now, Jon Gruden isn't giving it up.
"We've competed against (Trotter) for years," Gruden said. "There's no question he's a very physical linebacker and I've got a lot of respect for the guy himself. He's a team guy. Al Singleton helped us win a Super Bowl championship. Other than that, we're going to keep our thoughts private and move on."
But here's a hint that this wasn't any ol' free-agent workout: Jon Gruden, general manager Bruce Allen and defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin had front-row seats. That's unsual for all to be present for a workout. Oftentimes, a position coach and personnel staffer will conduct the workout and make recommendations. Gruden and Kiffin spent some time chatting with Trotter afterward.
Were they making a sales pitch? We'll see.

Good job, Stephen. You always seem to have it first!
So, you think they'll offer Trotter the contract and not Singleton or would them sign them both?

Did anyone get Dr Rick Stroud's opinion on this, 12 miles out to sea he could check his knees out, legally?. On a serious note, have to say Stephen appears to be bringing the times Buc coverage back up from the bottom of the barrel with some objective reporting. Appreciated.

Would we have to cut our draft picks if we signed these guys? Singleton is a solid Sam linebacker.

I heard they want to bring Trotter here because he is a dog fighter and Petigout wants a challenge for his dogs. I got $26,000 for the winner.
Does anyone know where I can order soap on a rope?

Stephen, you're doing a great job getting the dish for fans and sticking to the stuff that optimists want to hear about. Keep up the good work!

In my opinion there are two players who will make the most difference this season. Ronde Barber and especially Brian Kelly. If Kelly returns to form from a couple of seasons ago our corners will close everyone down.Plus he has the incentive.

I have critized the Times and Dr Stroud for their obvious anti-GruAllen slant. Stephen, I have appreciated the way you have handled our questions in a timley manner as well as your objective reports. This story is no exception. Keep up the Good work!!!

Stephen, your the best on the staff. You give credit when due and throw stones when you need to.
About Trotter, I love his leadership skills and skills as a run stuffer. If we can get him and he wants to come here I'm all for it. GO BUCS! Lets start a vote to get Sabby on the field soon.

I think this would be a great move getting this player to buy into the system. In Fact The head and Def coaches were there means they are very Interested to land this big fish. I'm sorry that some of the fans are mad they will loose those draft picks no. Its the other LB's or player that have not contributed to be yhe best. I am looking forward to what if Trotter does sign on. The teams within our defense will have fits.

eagles fan, love trotter. but he cannot play anymore. teams threw on 1st down against the eagles last year 47% from 30% year before. he simply cant do it. if you were guaranteed to get a run play, he is great, but teams will just throw against him. its over. typical gruden panic move.

Hey World, wake up and get back to reality, we have never had any player come back to true form after an injury in all of the Buc"s History. Let's sign him and get on with winning a few more Championships. It darned sure can't hurt now can it???

You guys are making me blush. You should pass this stuff along to the boss. But truth be told, "Dr. Stroud" is responsible for a lot of what you read on this blog. Anyway, keep coming back and we'll try to make it worth your while. Thanks.

That's great, Stephen that Rick contributes some of the info here. The difference is the objective way that you report it.
I don't mind journalists having an opinion, but, keep opinions out of reports. Columns are for opinions. If you guys want to do a mix here on the blog, maybe label them "Latest Report" or "Commentary".
Scott Reynolds said it best today filling in for the regular host, "all teams are currently 0-0". Let's have some balance and when the season starts let the chips fall where they may.

Mr T, I couldn't have said it better myself. We are all Buc fans, that is why we come to this blog. Most of us are knowlegable about the game and have been fans for years. We don't need anyone to blow smoke up our butts, but we also know when a reporter has an agenda. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that GruAllen does not talk to the press like Dungy or McKay. Both Dungy and McKay would go out their way to give the press info, GruAllen are more secretive and gaurded. I'm sure most of the beat writers would love if they were fired so they could deal with a more open coach/GM tandem. It seems to us if reporters are not getting the story, some of the writers will just make one up, like that Simms fiasco in training camp. Stephen, you haven't pulled any stunts like that, so all of us appreciate it. Keep the info coming.

You guys and your verbal BJ's make me proud!

Thanks for all the remarks. I was asked by the coaching staff if I could play DE. I am thinking it over. I have some years left in this league, just not sure I am fast enough to play MLB for this type of defense. You guys will know soon enough though.

I still Like Barrett Ruud, he's younger,
and faster, and going to play with alot
more hunger than Trotter, and everybody
knows footballs 90% desire-10% ability.
Give this guy a chance!!
