Cadillac says he may play Sunday
Cadillac Williams said he has shown rapid improvement since suffering bruised ribs in Sunday's loss at Seattle.
In fact, Williams hasn't ruled out playing in the home opener against New Orleans at Raymond James Stadium.
""The (ribs) are doing a lot better,'' Williams said. ""From Sunday to today, they're a lot better so everything is looking very positive right now.
""I definitely wouldn't rule myself out the way I'm feeling right now. If it continues to get better, there's no question I will (play).''
Williams is expected to be listed as questionable for Sunday's game and was not expected to practice Wednesday. If Williams does play, he said he would wear extra padding to protect his ribs.
The injury occurred when Williams was blindsided by Seattle linebacker Lofa Tatupu in the third quarter. He finished with 12 carries for 60 yards.
""It was a tough blow,'' Williams said. ""Initially, my thought laying on the ground was, "Oh, man, I've broken my ribs. Once we got x-rays and they said everything looked good, I was just relieved to hear that.''
Williams said he had difficulty breathing and sleeping Sunday and Monday and struggled to get out of bed. But after receiving treatment, some of that pain has subsided.
""Monday morning, it was like I could barely breath or cough or make a certain movement,'' Williams said. ""So today is Wednesday and I can cough without things hurting. Today is Wednesday and we play on Sunday, so that's a positive to me.''

good, get back in there big guy! way to toughen up and play hurt. we need him if we want any chane of winning. a caddy with 3 wheels in better than no caddy at all.

Sounds like it would be a total gamble if he plays Sunday in what promises to be a shellacking by the Saints anyway. Why lose him for the entire season?

I think this game is going to be pretty close. The Saints looked pitiful last week. Let's not annoint them just yet. We should've beaten them last year if it wasn't for that bogus pick penalty. Don't give up Buc fans!

its ribs, not an ankle or knee. put on a flak jacket, take a shot of cortizone and get on in there and lets see what you are made of. times are hard here in bucland. we need to see who is going to step up and be a leader. him going out could make a big statement to the rest of the team. how many times do you think brooks, quarles or alstott went out there hurt. they sucked it up and played hurt and won us over. its time for caddy to win us over and put an end to us thinking he is a pu**y.

He should play and take some GHB afterwards for a speedy recovery

yeah i agree he should play too, see what he's made of. I had a 72 cadillac and that thing was tore up but it kept runnin, bumperless and all. First home game of the year, against a division rival, how can he not at least try to play. I still think we can surprise some teams this year and compete. GO Bucs!!!

Will the Bucs visit me this weekend?

Well all I have to say is that. "it's on game people" So we didn't look great in the first game of the season. We didn't look all that bad either. There are 16 other teams in the league with the same record that we have. The season is a marathon not a sprint. Prime example is the Jets from last year the sucked at first and then they brought things together and made it to the playoffs. So all I have to say is be patient and wait a few games before we write the whole season off. If you are a true bucs fan that's what you should do. And just so you know I'm not a big Chucky fan but he's what we've got so lets just cheer him on until we replace him.
GO BUCS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know much about how bad an injury can hurt. However, why does a player have to play hurt to win our hearts? Caddy played hurt all of last year...where you guys overly excited to see him average 3.5 and one touchdown? Did he win your hearts last year? If he didn't the why the heck are some of you asking that he play hurt again, and if he did same response why ask him to play? The fact is we need a healthy running back that is going strong. The offense is not that great yet, but if Caddy can get healthy for the long haul. Then when Garcia gets them going we will dangerous with the pass as well as the run. Get healthy Caddy. I have enough faith in Mike Pittman for this week. Go Bucs

A couple years ago, playing pickup football, I fell on the ball and broke 2 ribs. The x-rays did not show it tho. But after a month of still hurting, the dr. did an MRI and found the 2 cracked ribs.
I can tell you this... breathing hurts, sleeping hurts, sneezing and coughing are HELL! I would think an extra game or 2 off might be the prudent decision.

I thought Darby looked good in the preseason. Yeah he fumbled the ball once or twice but so did caddy. Teach or stress ball security and play Darby

cortizone, baby! get out there and play.

Go Bulls! They're the only good team that plays on my field! The suckaneers suck. My poor endzone gets no visits from the Sucs and the crybaby fans irritate the crap out of me. Go Bulls, can't wait for West Virginia!

wow, w. virginia is goooood team. auburn was good too, but not like wv. i hope the bulls pull it off, though. it would be nice if someone did use the endzone.
