Garcia on Donovan

It feels a bit strange covering the Bucs at a time when the quarterback is NOT being criticized for inconsistent play. We've seen a lot of that around here, but Jeff Garcia seems to have it together for now.

So, that leaves us to talk about other teams' struggling quarterbacks. Or, in this case, it allows Garcia to talk about former teammate Donovan McNabb. He's been in the news this week not only for his assertion that black quarterbacks are scritinized more than white ones, but also because his play has been subpar in the Eagles first two games, both losses.

Garcia said he feels for McNabb and understands what he's going through.

"Philly is a very tough town and I know the guys over there are feeling some pressure, some heat from the fans," Garcia said. "The fans expect so much out of that team and they’ve had consistently good years over the past six or seven years. So when you start out 0-2 and things aren't going as well as they normally have gone in the past, there's frustration, there's tension and there's criticism and that just comes with the territory."

So, can McNabb overcome all that and his poor play to rebound?

"I think no matter where you’re at or who you are, the quarterback is generally going to take the heat for a lack of production on the field. As good as Donovan is and as great as his career has been, it’s a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately situation and right now there are some struggles taking place. I know the type of player he is, he’s going to battle through it, he’s going to fight through it and find a way to prove that he belongs and is very capable of leading that team to positive things."

Hope so. Because if Garcia stays this hot, pretty soon the Eagles are going to start being accused of having kept the wrong quarterback.

Comments

Of QB's that have started both games, Garcia is third in the league with a 116.8 QB rating. Donovan McNabb is 27th with a 68.8. Buc fans would complain about Mcnabb too, but Eagle fans pelted Santa Claus with snowballs, so they are probably letting Mcnabb have it.

McNabb has proven time and time again that he is an idiot. Last year when Garcia got hurt, McNabb, secretly, and his mother, openly, complained about the Eagles winning without him, as if the fans were supposed to root for the Eagles losing because he wasn't there. He put his foot in his own mouth because he did the same to TO, rallied the team to victory without TO. Eagles fans and the philly media are probably the worst by far but I think McNabb is a bigger poison than TO was in Philly.
The clow is even trying to play the race card, which will get him out of Philly pretty quickly when Grossman has been beheaded by the media everywhere. Even Manning was labled a failure by many because he didn't win a SB. Fact is, McNabb is a baby and i'm glad he isn't on my team.

McNabb spits on the face of all the black quarterbacks before him, actually all black athletes that played before him in every sport.
His comments are so stupid, the NAACP will probably support him like they do for any black man that disrespects Martin Luther King in the manner he has. MLK is rolling in his grave with all of these idiots who supposedly defend the black cause. If anybody is a racist...the media is...for allowing morons like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton to speak and be published. There is nothing more disparaging to a cause than to have morons speak for it.

Hey Daniel and Dwayne. Go check out the Panthers site and post on there. You can really get them p'd. You get a chance to sound like a knucklehead like DR on another team's site.
