Clayton has high ankle sprain
Got some mixed news on Michael Clayton to share.
After further examination on Monday, doctors did not find any ligament damage in his ankle after he injured it when he was tackled awkwardly against Detroit on Sunday. That's the good news.
The bad news is that Clayton does have a high ankle sprain, and those can be tricky. We're not sure what the exact timeline is on his projected return, but high ankle sprains tend to linger, often for weeks.
At this point, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Clayton out through the bye week. Returning to practice after the open date would give him three solid weeks of recovery time.
In the meantime, the Bucs are going to have to do something about their receiving corps. They've got just three healthy receivers (Joey Galloway, Ike Hilliard and Maurice Stovall). They'll most likely bring up at least one receiver from the practice squad considering the trade deadline has passed and there is almost nothing out there in terms of free agency.

Wasn't there a Wide Receiver who made the team this year that decided to take a nap behind the wheel of his car at a stop light that's available?

Someone go get the Fox broadcast that had Key's number and make the call. There is some money available to pay him. Just get some adult supervision in between him and Gruden, and give him Wednesday off. Will be one less day for their ego's to collide, and we get a good possession receiver again. Just do it.

That moron, I mean WR should and probably will be suspended for a year. His career is over. There is nap time and i'm too drugged up to stay awake time. I hope they won't go after that druggy again.

I think I heard Boston was arrested for domestic violence last week too. Classy guy.
Posted by: Mike | October 23, 2007 at 11:21 AM
Hopefully Clayton will get back soon because the offense is going to be pretty vanilla with 3 wide outs healthy. Their are not many guys out there that the Bucs can get to come in and even be a warm body.

Lawrence Samuels is available. So is Tolliver. Gruden should give Coach Marcum a call.

Sign me! I would love the opportunity to play! I can catch......but I'm sure I can run.............but I want to play. Think of the publicity in having a 50 year old rookie on the team. Sign me!
Posted by: John Klopfer | October 23, 2007 at 11:58 AM
I heard on ESPN that Peter Warrick is expecting a call from the Bucs.
He can definetly return punts and kicks. Hopefully he can run routes and catch these days too. Obviously this is only a stop-gap.
Posted by: James | October 23, 2007 at 12:02 PM
I can still play receiver. I've lost a few steps over the years but can still run a 6.3 40. The speed may not be there but the moves are still there. I may be slow, but the moves are lightning fast. I can bob and weave with the best of them (OK! at a slower pace than most). Folks... we're in trouble.
Posted by: Drew | October 23, 2007 at 12:18 PM
sign the "goose" chas gessner, he was the most consistent in the preseason.
Posted by: Jeff | October 23, 2007 at 12:19 PM
Oh snap! That was an ESPN broadcast with Key's number. Get on it Bruce the sky is falling, make the call now. Where is Chuck Norris when you need him.
Posted by: pride | October 23, 2007 at 12:20 PM
Come on fellas,
we've had Chas Gessner on our squad through training camp for 2 years, ya might as well give the kid a shot if he hasn't gotten picked up by anybody. Yes Chas could be the missing link here. Ohh yeah..let's not throw to Anthony Becht anymore...he's garbage!
Posted by: Sky | October 23, 2007 at 12:22 PM
Where's Riedel Anthony and Jacquez Green when you need them? Also, Lamar Thomas is looking for work.
Posted by: Joe Public | October 23, 2007 at 12:46 PM
Peter Warrick from F-ree S-hoe University has some flash. Maybe, we can finally have a kick-off go...all the way. The suggestion of Chas Gessner was another good suggestion. Does Bruce Allen read these blogs?
Posted by: John Klopfer | October 23, 2007 at 12:50 PM
I believe Gessner was placed on IR ?

Better Free Shoes University than Parennial 1st Round Busts from the University of Florida Busts.
Do you know what every NFL GM says to himself in the 1st round of the Draft? "DON'T TAKE ANY OFFENSIVE PLAYERS FROM UF!"
Posted by: James | October 23, 2007 at 01:22 PM
"Stay away from Gator recievers, QB's, TE's and offensive lineman"
"UF offensive players are busts"
"I sure hope our the scouting department didn't waste time in Gainesville"

I have ordered Chuck Norris to Round House kick the sky today at 4pm. Yes, I have Key's number, and he is checking with the Fat Tuna to see if it is a Ok with him to break out his flip flops again. Jon will talk to Chuck and coordinate to ensure he is no longer holding the sky up during the kick. Stephen Holder will have all further information becauswe I don't like the rest of these goons from the papers. Jon will have a PC as soon as we have further information.
Posted by: Bruce Allen | October 23, 2007 at 01:26 PM
Yea, Ike Hilliard is terrible. And that guy, what's his name? Oh, Emmitt Smith. what a bust!
Posted by: Mike | October 23, 2007 at 01:35 PM
You are not getting Key Bruce, I want him right here with me slobbin on my fatness at ESPN. And as far as Chuck Norris, Arnold has him Round House kicking wild fires as we speak, so forget that help. Just have the little guy coach up who he has. Stop it Key, and put your flip flops back on; oh did I say that out loud.
Posted by: Fat Tuna | October 23, 2007 at 01:38 PM
It is currently being reported that Bruce Allen is trying to make a deal to get Chuck Norris here at 4pm, but Arnold is being a Ahole. McKay could have got this deal done. Dungy would have had 5 players ready to go if he was still here. More to come as soon as Stephen talks to Bruce.
Posted by: Rick Stroud | October 23, 2007 at 01:45 PM
Anyone else want to join me on the Cowboy bandwagon. Gruden can't even hold the sky up.
Posted by: DR | October 23, 2007 at 01:51 PM
Charles Lee!
Posted by: steve | October 23, 2007 at 01:52 PM
Charles Lee!....actually I like the Edell Sheppard recommendation. Is Karl Williams too old now?
Posted by: steve | October 23, 2007 at 01:54 PM
Oh Snap! Stephen Holder just reported he has the day off, I am still trying to work the deal with Chuck Norris at 4pm, but have requested another Round House kick on Stephen to get him back to work because I can't stand McKay's reporters. Hey Brian, can I get a little help with the Arnold situation?
Posted by: Bruce Allen | October 23, 2007 at 01:59 PM
Mark Carrier! And get Vinny back!
Posted by: Bob | October 23, 2007 at 02:24 PM
I think I saw Lynn Swann going into Bucs headquarters today. Or was that Lyndsey Lohan?
Posted by: Andy | October 23, 2007 at 03:13 PM
I'm reading my ex-Raiders roll-a-dex and looking for old WR's. Is this guy Jerry Rice any good still?
Posted by: Bruce Allen | October 23, 2007 at 03:27 PM
You guys are hilarious with the Allen-Gruden loving the geriatrics.
Posted by: Alonza | October 23, 2007 at 03:28 PM
Since we're going back....let's go way back. I think Jimmie Giles and Kevin House might have a few catches left in them? What do you say Bruce?
Posted by: Alonza | October 23, 2007 at 03:30 PM
Where's everybody going? You can't jump off yet, we don't have a lsoing record yet! C'mon now, get back on and we'll enjoy the losing season together!
Posted by: Bucs Bandwagon | October 23, 2007 at 03:34 PM
Ex-Buc's don't interest me.
I only sign ex-Raiders.
Fred Biletnikoff should be pretty fresh by now, and maybe I can get Bo Jackson to end his Tampa holdout.
Posted by: Bruce Allen | October 23, 2007 at 03:43 PM
Okay, Bruce you win. I'll text Willie Gault now. (Todd Christenson???)
Posted by: Alonza | October 23, 2007 at 03:53 PM
THE TRUTH!!! I think he's on Marcum's roster too. Those AFL boys are dying for a shot. Look at what we got out of Greg White. Look at Siipio with the Chiefs.
Posted by: Mike | October 23, 2007 at 03:54 PM
Tell that Chucky guy to stop makeing those scary faces or I am not coming.
Posted by: Chuck Norris | October 23, 2007 at 03:56 PM
I hate all the Dungy comments whenever anything poips up.. get real. Dungy runs that team about as much as my mom, when Tony got to town they said, "Tony, build us a cheap defense cuz we have no money for you, and please, no matter what, don't mess with the offense". Curious what would happen if Peyton went down, you think he'd have 5 more players ready for that position? Great leaders are there for their families and help keep them alive...How do you lose a son to suicide and get celebrated as "great man"? Maybe he shoulda been at home being a dad.
Posted by: Jim Cynical Realist | October 23, 2007 at 03:59 PM
Oh wow. Okay now. Well Bruce, I think Jim needs a sip of the special Kool-Aid. Hook him up!
Posted by: Alonza | October 23, 2007 at 04:03 PM
In a remarkable turn of events, Rich McKay is going to help the bucs out with the ongoing problem getting Chuck Norris here to RHK the sky. The deal hinges on the glazers purchasing 53 Total Gym exercise machines. The Glazers are at this time talking to the County, and City administrators to pay for all but 5 cents for each machine. Stephen will be confirming this with Bruce Allen because Bruce's phone seems to be inoperable.
Posted by: Rick Stroud | October 23, 2007 at 04:04 PM
Is that you Jim Jones, yes drink some more of your special kool-aid sicko. Chuck Norris will be here soon to correct this current problem.
Posted by: Jim Jones? | October 23, 2007 at 04:07 PM
Why Alonza, tell the truth. Dungy is a great defensive coordinator but a shitey coach, its a good thing they had a ready made team for him. its the only place he could succeed. Good ol McKay sucked too, with all his idiotic backloading of contracts,.. between him and Dungy they both lucked out getting jobs because they were with the Bucs and did a marginal job. No other winning team would accept such mediocrity, but when its exercised on a losing team such as the bucs, it appears as if its a great accomplishment.
Posted by: Jim Cynical Realist | October 23, 2007 at 04:10 PM
Rick Stroud, if you do contact Chuck Norris can you see if Cristie Brinkley is available to return kicks against Jacksonville?
Posted by: | October 23, 2007 at 04:15 PM
Does anyone remember a stud named Alvin Harper? What about Bert Emanual?
Posted by: Mike | October 23, 2007 at 04:38 PM
The bucs and Gruden have blown it it again. Recently a deal was struck to get Chuck Norris into Tampa to RHK the sky that is falling, but the deal fell apart when Chuck himself was RHK in the back of the head by Jeff Garcia. This occured as Norris was caught ogling Garcia's wife, and showing her some kind of exercise on his Total Gym machine. Now Norris is no longer available for anything, and Tampa trainers are checking him for a concussion. According to witnesses Garcia told Norris "That is what you get for tuggin' on supernman's cape". Doug Williams then put his boot up Garcia's backside, at which time Garcia smiled. Williams then went to get another pair of shoes. The good news is the Glazers got the 53 Total Gym's, and taxes will only go up a little for Tampa residents.

Danny Peebles....Ray Perkins tells me he has lightning speed still....
Posted by: Scott | October 23, 2007 at 05:45 PM
Anyone remember Danny no fair catch Reece? He should have fresh legs and just make a deal with Detroit to bring back either Barry Sanders or Herchel Walker. That should sell some tickets!
Posted by: wild_bill | October 23, 2007 at 06:21 PM
How about teaching Michael Bennett a few simple patterns and letting him fly down the field?
Posted by: John P | October 23, 2007 at 08:37 PM
News Flash!!! Bruce Allen and the Buccaneers organiztion decided not to pursue the rights to Chuck Norris. The USA televison network asked for two #1 draft choices to replace "Walker Texas Ranger" and "Lone Wolf McQuade" along with an undisclosed cash amount. The Buccaneers only statement on their decision not to pursue Chuck Norris was solely based on their decision to pursue Jon Gruden "Fool me once - shame on you / Fool me twice - shame on me".
Posted by: Drew | October 23, 2007 at 10:33 PM
Well, that is their mistake, I could have RHK'd the entire kickoff coverage team, and put Bennett in the endzone and got that monkey off your backs. You loss keeping that little guy sho makes the mean faces, and intimidates the local media. Rich Mckay would have made this deal happen.
Posted by: Chuck Norris | October 23, 2007 at 11:19 PM
Damn concussion Garcia gave me is affecting my spelling. I meant that little guy who makes the mean faces, you know chucky the Gruden.
Posted by: Chuck Norris | October 23, 2007 at 11:24 PM
ey' Norris, get dat tail back out heah to californiah zo yoo can pinish off de RHK'ing of dese fiahs. I am paying yoo 10 tousand dollah's for each ahf dese fiah's zoo punk.
Posted by: Arnold | October 23, 2007 at 11:30 PM
Yo! Courtney Hawkins may also be available to suit up for us again!
Seriously though, we are SOL. The
2008 draft is going to be very interesting because the need at skill-positions is reaching defcon 4 levels!
