Roy Williams: No love lost for Garcia
Lions wide receiver Roy Williams spoke out about Jeff Garcia in a Detroit radio interview this week, and he didn't have anything flattering to say.
Williams was asked why Garcia "sucked" during his season in Detroit. Williams responded by saying, "because he blamed everybody but himself. ... I respected the man. I just didn't like the fact that it would be (the receivers') fault and never his fault. It's always the receivers' fault."
Williams went on to say that Garcia's command of the West Coast offense is no big deal. "My son can run the West Coast system and he's only 2."
You can click here for a link to the interview from WDFN. The comments begin at about the 8:15 mark of the interview.

I really hope Tanard Jackson hits Williams in the mouth! Come on TJ blast off on him like you did Dallas Clark!

(Note to Roy Williams) YOU suck for not catching the ball.. AND you play for a
"WE SUCK" GM, Matt Millen..

I think Rudi used to say to it the best on 'Fat Albert': "You're like school in summer...no class!" I'm sure that it was Roy Williams' fault when he ran the wrong route or dropped the ball. Garcia has been to 4 pro-bowls in his short NFL career and played for a dismal Lions team with a bunch of big-mouth, small-production players. I'm sure he is elated to be out of Detroit, Roy, and your pestulance. How does this even make it to the paper? It's like airing Limbaugh...ignorance and apathy!!!

Williams evaluation is fact - ask the Lions fans. Garcia is reaching the time when his age will be a negative factor in his playing abilities. If you like Garcia, enjoy his game now.

I'm not taking away from what Garcia is doing here in Tampa. He's doing a great job. I think the whole article is stupid for going into the past to spark more interest for a game. What matters is here and now and right now Garcia is carrying this team on his back with 0 interceptions.
Posted by: DR | October 17, 2007 at 11:02 AM
I just want to know how Roy Williams son did on the Wonderlic. As far as I know, checking down to your imaginary friend is not really a good option - just ask Joey Harrington.

All this is trash talk. Its not Garcia's fault that the Lions suck and Williams attitude equally sucks. The attitude rolls from the top down. I say " Bitter, party of one, your table is ready"!! I hope the Bucs smear the Lions and Garcia has a record breeaking day!! Go Bucs!!
Posted by: Jennifer | October 17, 2007 at 11:36 AM
This will only help to give Garcia even more motivation to tear up their sorry defense. Roy Williams is a clown.
Posted by: | October 17, 2007 at 11:38 AM
Roy didnt say anything wrong, Garcia did andhas sucked in the past. Hes playing ok for the BUCS,nothing great.TB is ranked near the bottom of the entire NFL in total offense and passing yards.
Posted by: | October 17, 2007 at 11:49 AM
Here's a "TIP" to Roy Williams, The Bucs D knows how to slow down and stop a Mike Martz led offense on Turf. The real question is whether Gruden can devise a plan to beat a Marinelli led Defense? Go Bucs!

man i just listened to the interview, and roy williams talked about garcias wife and and the radio host were talkin about they think he is ugly, i hope that he heres that and play lights out this week and we win by a blowout, and after the game he walks up to roy and saya "good game and yea its your fault you guys lost".
Posted by: Dwayne | October 17, 2007 at 12:13 PM
For those of you Buc fans that think Garcia is playing only ok, that shows you know nothing about football. Without Garcia, we would be 2-4 at best! He has not thrown a INT this year, and has 103.6 pass rating. I just hope Bennett can help our run game to even things out on offense.
Posted by: Janelle | October 17, 2007 at 12:15 PM
If you bandwagon fans had you wish and had Simms as your QB, the Bucs would be 1-5 or 0-6.
The anonymous loser who uses my name, you're the gay one. You Buc cowards amuse me.
Posted by: DR | October 17, 2007 at 12:26 PM
Garcia's wife is hot!! Oh, and Detroit's D is what sucks. 29th in the league.
Posted by: Mike | October 17, 2007 at 12:32 PM
I’ll bet our 25th ranked offence out plays there 29th ranked Defense
Posted by: | October 17, 2007 at 12:50 PM
and our 12th ranked D out plays there 14th ranked O

Well it's going to be a good game reguardless and I hope the bucs come out on top. The Lions have a ver aggressive deffensive line and we had problems with that last week with the Titans. I'm not sold on Penn either. I've seen him miss a lot of blocks and he requires a lot of help over there. I say we should put Davis back over there because at least he'll be more consistant and has proven to be able to open up running lanes. His pass protection was always a little lacking, but he's still an upgrade from Penn. And on an off football note Jeff Garcia's wife is a former Playboy Playmate of the year. So if he's pulled that then give credit where it is do, because how many of us can say that.

yea she does look good...DR not all buc fans or cowards u just make some people mad and they make up stuff about u to get back at you,but most dnt like me and tom and some others we just come out and say it but its all for fun but that was when u dissed our team to muvh in the past but we gave you your teams credit, im not a bandwagon fan i never wished we had simms i like him as a player alot he has heart but i wasnt mad when they let garcia start cause ive seen wat he did for the 49ers. but either way garcia is a hell of a quarterback better yet hes just a winner and will do wat it takes to win games to prove to everyone he shoulda came in the league around 24 or 25 years old.

What's with all the blatant homophobia here? I guess you're not a true sports fan unless you question the heterosexuality of your opponent.

Tom,
That's not nice, and you forgot Jeff Siemon!!
Posted by: Ron | October 17, 2007 at 02:50 PM
Most of you people are bleeping idiots. I can't believe you even exist. GET A LIFE!!!! This forum is about football not ones sexuality. You all sound like a bunch of 3rd graders. As for Garcia, he is the best QB we have had here since Brad. Out low offensive ranking is largely due to a poor running game. You all profess to be football guru's, however, You are only a bunch of stupid bandwagon morons. Go to other sites and have kids conversations. There were only a few of you with any sense and hopefully the others can jump off a local building and die.

What a shame.

Hey Tom you pimply faced high shool kid. Lions dominate the Bucs this weekend and Williams has at least 150. These new Lions step their game up at home. Playoff bound for sure. Bucs will be exposed!

Hmmm... Let me look into my crystal ball, Bucs 27 Lions 13.
Kitna, Williams look out. BAM!!! POW!!! KABLAM!!! @#$^ to late. Kit what the @&$% was that? I don't know Roy! I think it was the caped crusader. BatMan? No RUUUUUUUUUD!!!
Posted by: Drew | October 17, 2007 at 10:06 PM
Typical responses from bandwagon, no nothing fans here in Tampa. Garcia isnt more than a below average QB. He isnt the 2nd coming if Joe Montana because if he was, he wouldnt be here. Roy made a valid point. Get a grip Bucs(suck) fans, you're well on the way to another 5-11/6-10 season. Get ready for the Commish to say, with the 5th pick in tbe draft, the Bucs(suck) select......

P.S.....Barrett Rudd is overrated!! You'd be better off with Ray Bentley!!!

Hey Tom, if you have a link to lion cub’s site share it and let the rest of us join in on the fun
Posted by: Doofus | October 18, 2007 at 07:33 AM
What's the link Doofus? It's crazy that the Lions are over .500 for the first time in ten years and these fans get delusional.
Posted by: Tom | October 18, 2007 at 10:00 AM
If the Tampa defensive line keeps playing the way they are playing, it will be a long day for Tampa.
Posted by: DR | October 18, 2007 at 10:17 AM
The deal is Detroit has no rushing game. That will not factor in this game. Detroit has allowed 2nd most sacks in the league. This is where we need to see Haye, Carter, and hopefully Adams get nasty. Our pass defense is 8th in the league. I am sure we give up yards but not the over-the-top splash plays. I think it will be the Lions d-line that will need to show up.
Posted by: Mike | October 18, 2007 at 10:51 AM
DR, if the Lions become a one dimensional offense solely based on the passing game, that will play right into the hands of the Bucs Cover 2.
On offense, we really need to take of Shaun Rogers. He made Jeb Terry look like a bowling pin the last time we played them.
The Bucs will win decisively.
Bucs 31 Lions 17
Posted by: Tom | October 18, 2007 at 11:21 AM
The Bucs have n above average shot at winning this game. They are not the colts. They lead the league in getting sacked, so I think the Bucs have a shot at getting to Kitna. The Bucs win 27 to 14. Gaines gets 2 sacks by himself. Bennett rushes for 60 plus yards and a touchdown. GO BUCS!
Posted by: Andy | October 18, 2007 at 11:29 AM
Roy Williams is a Dumb***. He is a great talent but classless. You guys see that piece on ESPN where he won't even tip the pizza delivery guy. What a worthless piece of ***T.
Posted by: Andy | October 18, 2007 at 11:35 AM
This is comming from a guy that can't catch a cold. Only once in his career has he caught over 54 balls. Our rookies can put up those numbers. Don't get me wrong, he has some talent, if he's not getting hurt, which Tenard and Jermaine should take care of pretty quickly on Sunday. But he is in no place to critisize. He's not even the best Roy Williams in the NFL...They'll see exactly how easy the West Coast Offense is to run, cause it'll be running all over the Lions!
Posted by: Cole | October 18, 2007 at 12:04 PM
Well said Cole. Looks like the Bucs will get there second win of the year over a winning record team. Bucs need to watch out for Calvin Johnson, he is an athletic beast.
Posted by: Andy | October 18, 2007 at 01:49 PM
Bucs rookies can catch more than 54 balls but apparently thats the only good year you can get out of them.
I worked at a pizza joint before and saw some nasty crap. They know who tips and who doesn't and when you don't, you're getting a little bit more than pepperoni and mushrooms on your pizza.
Posted by: DR | October 18, 2007 at 01:54 PM
DR if only the bucs could find a weapon other than Galloway. They need to draft a decent wideout next year. The Bucs Offensive specialty players are getting long in the tooth.
Posted by: Andy | October 18, 2007 at 02:57 PM
If they were smart they would go after and offer Fitzgerald a huge contract since he'll be a free agent. If they don't at least make a strong attempt at him, than they are pure losers.
Posted by: DR | October 18, 2007 at 03:58 PM
DR, What about your "boys going after him? Glenn is about done and T.O. is still good but getting older too. Are they pure losers if they don't go after him?
Posted by: Mike | October 18, 2007 at 04:48 PM
Blaming Jeff Garcia because the Lions were horrible is like blaming the spoon because Rosie O'Donnell is fat.
Posted by: Adam | October 19, 2007 at 01:22 AM
Mike, absolutely! The 'Boys better be big players for Fitz. They have the money and the NEED to get young. I like Crayton but don't think he's a #1WR but he is a good #2 or #3. The rumors earlier this year were Dallas was talking trade with Arizona but Boldin got hurt. Dallas and Tampa should be the 2 teams bidding for Fitz. Thats good news for Dallas since it seems the Glazers won't pay out for great players.
