Ruud grabs another honor
Middle linebacker Barrett Ruud has been named NFC defensive player of the month for September, two weeks after garnering a defensive player of the week honor.
Ruud led the league in September with 51 tackles, adding three forced fumbles, two recoveries and an interception.
Even Colts coach Tony Dungy mentioned today that Ruud has caught his eye while watching film of the Bucs this week. He said it was the first time he had watched Ruud play and his performance looked pretty familiar. It reminded Dungy of some of standout linebackers who came before him.
Dungy will get a close up on Sunday when the Bucs take on Indianapolis.

Barrett deserves it, Good job!!!!!!!!!

Nice to see all the Ruud detractors from the preseason keeping their mouths closed now. Oh wait those are the same guys who have no faith in Penn or Davis. My mistake.

Don't get me started Tampa Bay Fans. You know you are not going to beat us Sunday. We beat Gracia last year when he was with the Eagles. Your D is a joke. Come on Tampa, the Colts are not the Panthers. You are not going to hold the Colts under 28 points. Please quit wishing that Harrison, Addai, and Bob Sanders are not going to play, because they are. Wakeup call is comming Tampa, and the Colts are going to give it to you!!!! GO COLTS!!!!

Peyton18, isn't it past your bedtime? 1:25AM is way too late for someone your age to be awake. Don't you know pre-teens need at least eight full hours of sleep a night?
Posted by: Peyton19 | October 04, 2007 at 02:01 AM
Payton18 is that clown Dan from the Panthers site. He’s just pissed that we shut them out.
Posted by: Payton20 | October 04, 2007 at 06:45 AM
I’m no expert but the writing style is the same, besides that’s the same crap he was saying last week about the Panthers.
Posted by: Payton20 | October 04, 2007 at 06:48 AM
I was saying before the season started that this D is fast and will be back with a vengence. They have something to prove - they are a top 5 D each and every year and last year was an abberation.
Yeah, I think Peyton and the boys will score more than the 11.0 the Bucs have given up. However, I don't think it will be what folks think it will be.
I'm predicting the Bucs by 4 with the D stopping the Colts on their last minute drive.
Bucs 24
Colts 20

It will be a good game but i think Indy will pull away late. I'm predicting a big game for rookie Anthony Gonzalez and I think Freeney will do enough to disrupt Tampa's game plan. Clayton must step up in this game and prove his worth. Tampa will double team Freeney throughout the game on passing downs and Garcia will lose his relief valve, Clayton must step up.
I think the defense will do well, but with a bad pass rush, Manning will pick them apart methodically.
Colts 24
Bucs 13

Just to clarify, DR predicted a 5-11 season so of course he’s going with Indy. Because 6 wins means hhhheeeee’ss W R O N G !!! I’m sure if you look in the archives of last month’s blog you’ll see he predicted a loss to Seattle, the Saints, the Rams and Panthers. Next week win loose or drawl he’ll predict a loss to the Titans then the Lions and so on… mark my words guys!! Oh yeah, if we loose this week it will be because of those sorry players Gru and Co. drafted, those crappy talent evaluators.
Posted by: Doofus Dan | October 04, 2007 at 12:39 PM
LMAO! Hey Doofus, I said that the Bucs should win against the Rams. If they didn't, they should be ashamed. And I said panthers were their first true test to see if they were a legit team.
If the Bucs go 6-10, you'll beeeeeeeeee WRONG!!!!! I'll be more right than you.
If they lose this week, it will be because Indy is a great team. Vegas thinks Indy's going to blow them out with a double digit spread.
Let's hear your prediction genious? Let me guess, Bucs win 236-0, Gruden scores 12 TDs, 4 of them he passed to himself. The last one, he levitated 50 yards for a score. Then impregnated every female in the stadium just by looking at them.
Posted by: DR | October 04, 2007 at 01:36 PM
Congrats to Ruud, he desrves the honor. Many people thought he could not do the job and would screw up in the middle, but he has proved everyone wrong and is the next great Bucs middle linebacker.
Posted by: Tampabaysportsfanatic | October 04, 2007 at 01:40 PM
DR, yeah, I could how Gonzalez is going to tear up our defense since he has a whopping 6 receptions so far.
Anyways, the Bucs have a real good chance of winning this week. The Colts defense stinks and can't stop the run. Gruden is a great strategist and will attack that weak LB corp. and corners. Other than Freeney and Sanders, the rest of their defense is mediocre.
Look for Galloway to light it up on the carpet.
Bucs 31 Colts 24
I'll be honest. The Titans defense is a lot more worrisome than the Colts. They have that beast, Haynesworth in the middle who wreaks havoc.
Posted by: Tom | October 04, 2007 at 01:43 PM
Hey DR, when the Boogie man goes to sleep at night, he looks under his bed for Gruden.
Posted by: Tom | October 04, 2007 at 01:44 PM
Superman has a pair of Gruden underwear.
Posted by: Tom | October 04, 2007 at 01:45 PM
Tom, usually when you make predictions, you don't go by averages.
Galloway has a whopping 14 receptions! That's the 56th best total for WR. Ike Hilliard has 15 receptions. Ever heard of James Jones? Neither have I. He has 18 receptions. There are 12 TEs in the league that have more receptions than Galloway. Gonzalez is a rookie and though Harrison will play, he will be more of a decoy and limited which should open up Gonzo.
Posted by: DR | October 04, 2007 at 02:04 PM
And I just keep reeling’em in!! BING, BING, BING, BING, BING, BING, BING Actually DAA…, excuse me, DR I’m just poking fun at you. I think if we play the way we’ve played the last few weeks, there’s no reason we can’t win. I’ll say 17, 20 Bucs. The next three weeks (in my option) will be the toughest stretch of the season, and for the record I never gave a season prediction. However since you’ve brought it up, we have the talent to 11-5, but I’ll say 10-6 and if Gruden levitated 50 yards for a score he should get coach of the year! So there genius, by the way you spelled it wrong. Try spell check.
Posted by: Doofus Dan | October 04, 2007 at 02:13 PM
I need spell check? Check your last blog looser, i mean loser! haha
And Tom, Gonzo's 6 receptions are double that of that rookie runner-up sensation Clayton! Who has 3.
Posted by: DR | October 04, 2007 at 02:19 PM
Doofus, did you mean your opinion or your option?
Posted by: DR | October 04, 2007 at 02:21 PM
DR the reason people dog on you… I mean in spite of you being an idiot, is you always take the bait and go on the defensive, butt hole!! And then resort to name calling, I mean chill were all friends here and remember we’re not laughing with you we’re laughing at you.
Posted by: Doofus Dan | October 04, 2007 at 02:29 PM
Like you, I’m at work and have more than on thing going on. After all that’s why this country is so productive.

To "Tom" Wakeup call for you, I get so tired of trying to explain the fact that the Colts won the superbowl last year with that "BAD D". If I remeber right Tom, You picked 3rd or 4th in the draft. You know what that means about your season last year. The Colts "BAD D" is ranked in the top half of the league. Second, nobody wins in the RCA Dome but the Colts. Mr. Garcis is still looking under his bed for Freeney after the Colts sacked him 5 times when they played last year. Wake up Tom, this is not the Panthers your playing this week, and it's sure not the JV NFC. The score will be 31-17 Colts. Each week I here about this teams running on the Colts, thats why their 4-0 right. You had better worrie about that bad offense you got Tom. I'll give you a doom and gloom report Tampa, Harrison, Addai, and Sanders are going to play Sunday, which = no chance for you!!!!GO COLTS!!!!
Posted by: peyton18 | October 04, 2007 at 02:39 PM
I have the day off today and working from home. I got up at early and benched press 275 lbs. eleven times just so I can be not only be smarter, but stronger than DR.
DR, if we go by averages than "Gonzo" will get 1.5 catches Sunday. What's your point?
Peyton 18, first, your defense is pathetic. Your offense is awesome, I will admit. Who can deny that? On defense, you have two studs and the rest duds. For pete's sake, your best DT is a Buc reject. Btw, thanks for the extra 2nd round pick, we got two great players out of it.
You're worried about Rob Morris being hurt? Who the hell is that? What has that guy done? You were dumb enough to let the only quality LB go, Cato. Now he's going to pick off Peyton.
Dungy has done nothing since he's been there. Has he improved that defense? NO!! That offense was just as good before he got there. He was a great coach here, but a average coach in Indy. It's not Dungy's team that won the Super Bowl, it was Tom Moore's team.
Posted by: Tom | October 04, 2007 at 02:56 PM
And you're name calling you... Do you watch futball or football? Go back to watching woman's soccer doofus.
Posted by: DR | October 04, 2007 at 02:57 PM
The Ponies gave up over 200 yards rushing last week.
Posted by: Tom | October 04, 2007 at 03:01 PM
Tom, hahaha...hahaha...I can't stop laughing! Dungy's an average coach with a record, far, far better than Grudumb's. He's done nothing, ha? hahaha
What's your point Tom? You said Gonzo has only 6 catches like it means he can't catch. He can have 12 this game. By your statement about Gonzo, how can you make a prediction about Galloway having a big game? He only averages 3 catches a game.
Drafted 2 great players? hahaha yeah, great in college.
Posted by: DR | October 04, 2007 at 03:02 PM
I'm sticking with my prediction.
Colts 24
Butt Pirates 13
Posted by: DR | October 04, 2007 at 03:03 PM
My point was "gonzo" has done nothing so far in this leaque. He's just a rookie in his fifth game. He is going against the best defense in football. What evidence do you have to make your prediction?
Galloway was no good in Dallas and is the best deep threat in football. He has proven himself and is going against the worst defense in football.
Get it?
Posted by: Tom | October 04, 2007 at 03:08 PM
What has Dungy brought to Indy that has improved that team?
You said that any coach could have won the SB with the defense we had in 2002. Well, any coach could win with the Colts offense. And they still suck on defense.
Posted by: Tom | October 04, 2007 at 03:11 PM
Butt Pirates, that’s funny. You know they say laughter adds 7 years to your life. Tom, if you have a link to Indy’s blog… share it, a couple guys I work with would love to have a little fun.
Posted by: Doofus Dan | October 04, 2007 at 03:17 PM
Galloway wasn't nothing in Seattle either. He is the most overrated player ever. He held out in Seattle when they were 7-2, and then played and they finished 8-8 and didn't make the playoffs.
Dungy got his team over the hump and won the Super Bowl in a tougher conference. He also has kept the team a winner like he did in Tampa. Did Gruden do that? No. Has Indy been salary cap strapped? Yes. I guess we brought Gruden here to do good for one year and suck the rest. Their team sucked when they made the playoffs and they proved it in the playoffs.
You're overexaggerating again, of course. Tampa's DE is one of the better one's and Indy's DE is nowhere near the worst.
Posted by: DR | October 04, 2007 at 03:31 PM
Tom!, Doofus Dan!, This post is for you. If we dont have Harrison, Addai, and Sanders for Sunday, it's not going to matter. I know people hate when they hear this, but we are a one man team. Peyton Manning. Sorry DR if you disagree with this but with Manning we win, without we would be where we were before we drafted him. Manning beats the bucs 20-17. GO MANNING!
Posted by: ColtsFan | October 04, 2007 at 03:37 PM
Galloway has had only 1 year in his career with over 1100 yards and one year over 75 catches. Thats pure crap for a guy with so much hype.
Posted by: DR | October 04, 2007 at 03:37 PM
I agree. Reggie Wayne is their bigger threat. Wayne and Harrison are at the Bruce and Holt crossover. Manning is probably the best ever. If not now, he will be.
Posted by: DR | October 04, 2007 at 03:39 PM
I agree partly with ColtsFan. What I agree with is that the Colts are a one person team. Thanks for saying that Colts fan, lol. What I dont agree with is that DR's mom is not aware that DR is using her computer. DR how did you get past those parental controls. DR probably doesnt even live in INDY. Dont you know the Raven's are your team now? DR, jump off the bandwagon and grow some balls. BUCS keep 3 td lead this time. Colts lose.
Posted by: Catoknows | October 04, 2007 at 03:44 PM
DR, you keep on shooting yourself in the foot.
On which team did Galloway have those great years? The Bucs! And who was the coach that was able to unlock his talent which the Cowboys wasted?
GRUDEN!!!
Posted by: Tom | October 04, 2007 at 03:47 PM
Catoknows he's about to lose. I want to support the Bucs but I have to say the Bucs fans are the gayest ever. Eagles fans are bad, but they've been bad since day one. They supported their team throughout. The Bucs fans are all bandwagon fans. They made the playoffs for the first time and you can buy tickets to the game right before kickoff with no problem. Eagles fans have a right to be mad when they do bad; Bucs fans don't, they just disappear and put their Packers, Bears, Lions jersey's back on.
Posted by: DR | October 04, 2007 at 03:48 PM
Great years? You mean good year. Great years are done by great WRs, which Galloway is not a part of. Galloway's good year's are other WRs bad years.
Posted by: DR | October 04, 2007 at 03:50 PM
DR, if you want to support the Bucs, than like Cato said grow some balls and support them. The only one on this blog I’ve supporting another team is you.
Posted by: Doofus Dan | October 04, 2007 at 03:56 PM
sorry, your the only one on this blog I’ve read is supporting another team.
Posted by: | October 04, 2007 at 03:58 PM
DR Pepper, we can try and be clever in these posts all we want. But the truth is the BUCS arent going to give up a 3 TD lead this time. And while your talking about putting on other team's jerseys, Im wondering why Ive seen you posting in favor for the other team each week? Let me guess your a Seahawks, Saints, Rams, Colts, Fan? No thats not right your probably a Raiders Fan.
Posted by: Catoknows | October 04, 2007 at 03:59 PM
My balls weigh 40 pounds a pice, they're huge!
You have to score 21 points to take a 3TD lead. Thats not gonna happen after Freeney rips Garcia's spine out. Garcia's coming off the field in a body bag. It's gonna look like Sean Penn, the actor, blocking out there.
Nah, i'm just kidding. I hope its a good game. Fact is, NFL play has been the weakest its ever been with all the conservative crap that goes on. There used to be great teams, good teams, and bad teams. Now there is just good teams and bad teams.
I said the bucs should beat the Rams and the Panthers if they're truly a good team. This will be their biggest test all year and i'm not going out on the limb too much by saying the Colts should win. They have one of the better pass DE, thanks to a good pass rush and I doubt the Bucs will establish a run throughout the game, especially if Indy scores first. The Bucs DE is very good but if their pass rush doesn't play far better than they have, its over.

I am looking for a sigle white male, no less then 250 pounds. I expect him to take me out to dinner and pay for my meal. I like men that are big and like to spoon. I would like a man that has the body of an offensive lineman with the face of Tom Brady.

Woops, wrong site.
Posted by: DR | October 04, 2007 at 04:45 PM
I bet you could bench press him at least 10 times.
Posted by: Tom | October 04, 2007 at 04:49 PM
You guys are proving my point with these gay comments of yours. Going to a Bucs game is like watching a live version of Brokeback Mountain. I guess we should call it Bucback Mountain.
Posted by: DR | October 04, 2007 at 04:56 PM
DR, your homophobic comments are getting old. Dude, if you like guys, just be free. Don't tell us that you can bench press 275 lbs ten times when you wish you were the one with Tony Romo at the CMA's, and not Carrie Underwood.
Posted by: Tom | October 04, 2007 at 05:05 PM
To all the fans/non-fans of opposing teams that face the Bucs (or even those that pretend to be fans of the Bucs),
This Buccaneers defense is very different from the past 3 or so years. This D is younger, faster, and very well-coached. They're first in Points Allowed at 11 pts/game. The DL is learning and will only get better.
The offense has a savvy veteran QB that avoids turnovers and moves the chains while keeping teammates on their toes.
Go ahead, underestimate them like others did. That's fine. We don't mind fryin' up crow for you here on Mondays...
