Adams gets $5K fine

Gaines Adams meant well, but the league wasn't impressed.

While trying to apply pressure to 49ers quarterback Shaun Hill last Sunday, the rookie defensive end was flagged for a personal foul. Now, the league says it has handed down a $5,000 fine for "unnecessarily striking the quarterback with his helmet," according to a league official.

Adams definitely lowered his helmet on the play, hitting Hill just as he released a pass. Penalizing such tackles is a protective measure designed to prevent quarterbacks from being seriously injured.

and Bryant Young better get fined for his 2 hits on Garcia to the helmet.

Why doesn't the NFL just put don't-hit-me red jerseys on all QB's.

i agree with t and tim maybe we should put red shirts on the precious QB and how did that ref miss the helmet to helmet hit bryant young did on jeff? but then again vision is not part of the health plan for refs or maybe they were being nice to young because it was his last home game

Next week the Bucs will play the Giants in the 1st Round of the P/O's. Which bring up the 64 dollar question, "Did anyone get a chance to watch the Patriots - Giants game last night?
