Petitgout looking good
I took a few minutes today to watch Luke Petitgout work out on an empty practice field while the full team was wrapping up its workout.
It seems like forever since the veteran left tackle sustained his season-ending knee injury, but really, it's only been less than three months. That makes it all the more amazing that Petitgout looks as good as he does. He was out there sprinting, doing agility drills, bending, cutting -- you name it. You almost wonder if he wouldn't have been a candidate to come back for the postseason had he not been placed on injured reserve (you can't be re-activated from IR).
If I recall correctly, indications were that Petitgout did not suffer a complete tear of his ACL, which should make for a shorter recovery period.
I mentioned to Jon Gruden after practice that Petitgout was looking good and that he might have gotten him back for the playoffs. He agreed and added that safety Sabby Piscitelli is making a swift comeback from his season-ending foot injury, too. It's a shame the Bucs have had so many injuries this season, because had roster spots not been such a major issue, maybe they could have considered keeping either or both of those guys on the active roster.
Either way, both seem like they'll be ready to pick up where they left off when they return next season.

Pettigout needs a season off. This guy has been banged up for a couple of years now. The rest will do him good. He will make a great contingency plan next year to either back-up Penn (if he continues to play like he has) or come back really healthy (back and all.) We are thin at safety though, and PK just can't cut it as a starter or back-up, so let's hope for good health there for the remainder of the season.

Skylar,
Petigout is always injured; always lame; and always looking awesome on the sidelines. cut him. Save the cash. Pick up free agents that can play more than a few games.

Skylar,
is that a girls name?
Posted by: Nick | December 07, 2007 at 06:48 PM
It is now. She didn't start life that way though. Good question Nick. Hope that helps.

Luke is under contract for next season, and if he's healthy you can bet Gruden will have him on the team. He's not a bum player, he's just got a bum's health. That said though, I think he's going to be better as a backup - a guy who isn't expected to start 16 games. Donald Penn has played better with each game and has earned the starter's job.

So how is Paris Warren doing??

Nick,
You have the worst grammar in the world. Obviously, a Florida school student. It's girl's loser.

Wow, I guess you all really are more concerned with stupid underhanded remarks than with football. All you do is sit on this blog and wait for the next entry. On top of that, it looks like you're all the same person. That's hilarious!!! You even took the time to fake an entry for me (Tom/Aaron/Nick - duh.) I guess I should be flattered that I've had such an impact on your dismal life. FYI - I totally forget about you when I leave.
BTW - It's Skylar Zalamut. My freinds call me Sky...Sky Zalamut! Hey Tom, why don't you make up a lie about what I said on a previous blog so that it makes you look cool to yourself and alter egos. Just make sure you OK it with the equipment manager ;);) Aaron, because he makes all the important decisions on your team right?
At least John P (apparently the only person with an education and class) had something of use to say; Pettigout is under contract, and we have no backup at LT. It seems like the perfect fit to me would be retain him and let him fight for the job next year. It will create competition and allow Penn to continue to develop and improve. Remember when we brought in Lomas Brown (who had seen his better days,) for the SB season? That wasn't such a bad idea was it?

Mike... Paris has been off his crutches for some time now, though I'm not certain how much he is doing just yet. I'll ask him for an update next time I see him. I can say that, just by looking at him, you can hardly tell he sustained such a serious injury.

Paris will be a big help to an aging WR corps next year. He showed me a lot this preseason. Just as Graham had been shining in the previous preseasons, he looked like he was ready to take the next step. Another well developed project-player that Gruden drafted late (7th rounder.) I think that will be one of the positions we will need to seriously address and upgrade this offseason.

YEP A DECENT WIDE OUT OR TWO WILL DEFINITLY HELP US OUT NEXT YEAR. PARIS WARREN IS CERTAINLY ONE OF THEM. HEY DR WHATCHA THINK ABOUT DALLAS AND THE BUCS IN A PLAYOFF GAME? I THINK IT`LL BE BUCS 28 DALLAS 24, FIELD GOAL WIN. HONEST OPINION OKAY? NO BULL. AND IF YOU MOVED OUT OF SEMINOLE YOU`D LIKE TAMPA BETTER. TRY CHECKING OUT VALRICO OR RIVERVIEW. LOTTA COWBOY FANS IN RIVERVIEW. RETIRIES ETC.

Skylar, I didn't have a post until now. I think you're right, one of these clowns is posting by himself like a loser.

Rich, thanks for the info. My opinion, Tampa can't match up with the 'Boys. Penn will need help against Ware, and if their defensive line can't put a decent rush on Romo, it will get ugly. I think the spread in that game, if it were to happen would be between 10 - 13 points, and I think the 'Boys would cover it.

DR. It just means they can't stop thinking of me. Children will be children.

Wow. My name was copied too. This is terrible. Hey skylar and DR, maybe we should all get together at the cherokee bar in ybor and figure out who's doing this to us.

Skylar,
Maybe I'm a roofer, but I still have class. And by the way, graduating from Hoover middle school does not qualify as an education; and, using utensils when you eat does not qualify as class.

I'll meet you guys at cherokee too.
