Trueblood, Barber get All-Pro votes

At least one person believes the Bucs should have a couple members on the All-Pro team.

Kudos to Peter King of Sports Illustrated for sharing publicly his ballot for the All-Pro team. It's a tougher list to make than the Pro Bowl because there's just a single player selected at each position, with the exception of a couple.

Somewhat surprisingly, King voted for Jeremy Trueblood at RT, though it was sort of a back-handed compliment. King said Trueblood was the weakest of his offensive picks. But hey, it's high praise nonetheless. Cleveland rookie Joe Thomas was the other tackle. On defense, King picked Barber as one of his cornerbacks. The Pats' Asante Samuel was the other.

Peter King has either ignored, or picked against this team every single week, and now he's suddenly paying attention? No mention of Ruud, Flip, Askew or Graham? It's like he watched Sportscenter and picked the two names that made highlights. I'm surprised the whole article wasn't about how wonderful Tom Brady is (like every other article he writes). Forgive me if I don't think it's as big of an honor as he makes it out to be.

Sorry Jay, but Ruud, Flip, Askew, and Graham are not All-Pro's. All Pro's are the best at their position in the entire league. Those guys aren't. They had good seasons and great impact for their team, but don't forget it was for a 9-7 team in the worst division in the league and the Bucs had a weak schedule on top of that.

Actually PK is a pretty staunch supporter of the bucs. i read his articles every time they hit the net and usually goes out of his way to point out the bucs as a whole, or players individually, and recently mentioned that a prominent NFL executive wondered why no one mentions tampa, and that they should. So uh, sorry, you're wrong.

I am a big fan of Peter King and also all the rest of the Sports Illustrated writers. My favorite SI Writer is a toss up between Peter King and Don Banks who is a former St. Petersburg Times reporter.

Just one note to DR's comment. The worst division in the NFL has to go to the AFC East. Just look at the numbers.
The NFC south is the second worst.
Oh and by the way the patriots played a weak schedule to.
All that doesn't matter now, it's playoff time! The second season is underway, 9-7 means the same as 16-0. Absolutly Nothing!!
GO BUCS!!!

I too read Peter Kings articles every time they hit the internet, and I used to be a staunch supporter of his, but his New England bias is so overwhelming that it becomes irritating. His articles are 7 to 8 pages and at least half if not more are dedicated just to talking about the Patriots. The Bucs may get a paragraph or two in total, but like you said Don Banks actually takes notice.

I read that two sentence blurb about the Bucs being unnoticed by everyone in the media, which he was kind to point out, but then he goes on for two more pages about how wonderful Tom Brady / Bill Bilichek / Starbucks / Mary Beth is. It's difficult to take him seriously as a league wide writer when he focuses so much on his hometown team.

Hi Jay,

Well your are probably correct concerning the limited attention that the Bucs receive from Sports Illustrated. I also follow Fox Sports and a couple other sites and they too give the Bucs almost NO attention. I wonder why? Maybe DR knows.

Jason, I agree with your comments on records not being the big deal but there is no doubt the NFC South is the worst division. The Pats are far better than any team in the NFC South. The Bills would have won the division if they were in it. The Jets and Fins suck, though the Fins did lose a lot of close games, but the Falcons are horrible and the Panthers weren't good either.

Clyde, al the media jump on the bandwagon of the hot teams. The Dolphins got more coverage because people thought they were going to winless. As soon as they won, they dropped off the radar. The Bucs are in a small market,it's a growing market, they didn't play any prime time games, and don't have any big name players and didn't have any drama or records come up besides preseason with that loser boston.
Sports coverage is like the media coverage, what's hot today, a shootout at the mall, is quickly forgotten the next day. It's sad.
i read all these sports sites and they are all basically the same. They might as well combine and become one site.

DR's right in this sense: take the Cincinnati Bengals. They didn't make a lot of headlines this year because they were horrible, but they have gotten their share of coverage over the years. Why? Largely because they have Carson Palmer and Chad Johnson, two big-name (and in the case of Johnson) flashy stars. The Bucs have jettisoned all such players from their roster, and they're left with some pretty good players, but few mega stars. That, coupled with the fact that Tampa is a small market when compared to Dallas, NY, Chicago, etc., means you're not going to garner much national coverage. Everyone takes it as an insult. It just kinda is what it is.

Hey the BUCCANEERS have ALL-PRO`s everywhere on their team. But alas we havent had the prime time games and all that. People we made the playoffs again, alot of teams are sitting home now, not us! GRUDEN is without a doubt in the top 5 coach`s in the new era. I hope the GLAZERS give him and Mr. KIFFIN the extension and raises the surely have earned. If we can keep those two coach`s for 10 more years the BUCCANEERS will be DYNASTY material like the ol` 49`s, COWBOYS, PITTSBURGH days etc. Look he`s young and has alot of years in him. Lock him in! Grab up some old BUCS like JOHN LYNCH to coach DEFENSIVE BACKS, ALSTOT to coach running backs etc. I`m telling ya man, nothing but good things from these BUCCANNEERS from here on out....GO BUCS!!!

Holy smokes Rich! New Year's was 2 and a half days ago and you're still drunk, haha! Usually, a dynasty is when a team wins consecutively for many years. Gruden has had a winning season, every other season and his losing seasons were pretty bad (5-11, 4-12). His .500 record is nothing to receive praise for. To evaluate Gruden, you have to step back and look at the overall picture and not just live in the moment, as in having a home playoff game. Next year should be the determiing factor for his future as the Bucs coach. unfortunately, the Glazer's will probably pull the trigger too soon. There should be concerns with having a home game and not having the game sold out by the end of the week. Yeah, the economy isn't great, but Tampa is the only city with this problem.
