Garcia speaks the truth
The game had been over for about an hour already, and Jeff Garcia had just finished being grilled in a press conference.
So, as he slid out of the room and away from the cameras, we cornered him for one final little chat. In it, Garcia indicated what his expectations are for 2008. In speaking about next season and his hopes for the offense, Garcia hinted pretty strongly that he is looking for the Bucs to upgrade.
"I'm sure Coach Gruden will go out and try to make this a stronger team on the offensive side," Garcia said. Later, he added, "I will be very hands-on this off-season and be involved in whatever it takes."
That tells me Garcia is going to make his wishes known to Gruden. If we know nothing else about Jeff, we know that he isn't afraid to speak his mind to his coach.
Watching today's game, the one thing that kept standing out to me is the lack of help Garcia got. Where is the receiver making the unexpected catch? Certainly it wasn't Joey Galloway, who, by the way, could potentially have helped Garcia on the end-zone interception by trying to break up the Corey Webster's catch. There are very few dynamic players on the offense, and we saw that today. The Giants, who are supremely talented compared to the Bucs, at least had a few.
The Bucs have their work cut out for them this offseason. The schedule gets harder next season, and the veterans will be a year older. Maybe they don't need wholesale changes, but there are bound to be at some differences in 2008.
And that's not just my opinion, but apparently that of the quarterback, too.

Needs:
1). Good backup QB that could be groomed to take Garcia's spot eventually. McCown is not the answer as he tries to make too much out of nothing may be only a backup option at best.
2). Speed at receiver. It's time to look for Berrian or Moss as FA's and possibly anyone else that may be cut free. They need to get stronger at this position as the 2 best WR's are also the oldest.
3). Get stronger at the Center position. Too many times this year Wade was pushed around. Needs to be upgraded.
4). Another RB. Need a compliment to Graham's tough running style as we don't know where Williams will be and Pittmans getting up in years now.
5). Run stuffing DT. Too many times the RB's of teams got through the first line of defense.
6). LB's, Ruud faded after the halfway point in the season and Brooks is done (I'm a big fan of 55, but we have to admit, he's done), Brooks has no affect in pass defense as he once did and it pained me to see June removed on passing downs.
There's more, but those are my thoughts.
By the way, did Bidwell have to save his worst game for today?

anyone notice that it looked like galloway wasn't into the game today
Posted by: shane | January 06, 2008 at 09:28 PM
I think Galloway was more hurt the past few weeks then Gruden let on. We need more at the WR position. Claytons got to go and Stovall didn't separate himself from the others when he had the chance. After that, it was really just Galloway and Hilliard all season. Age caught up with us today.
Posted by: Chet | January 06, 2008 at 09:39 PM
It's time to get serious with this team in the offseason!! Sign 1 or 2 receivers to help Galloway & Hillard. Sign some defensive players because Brooks, Barber, & Hovan are get older. Get a backup QB for Garcia. We need some playmakers if we want to win the NFC South & get back in the playoffs next year!!!

Fans,
It comes a point in time, when a person needs to look in the mirror and realize their time is done. As far as I am concerned, its time to rip it all up. Garcia, is a band-aid, Gallaway is slowing aging, Brooks is past his prime (caught out of position a lot today), Hilliard runs like he is in quick sand, Clayton is already past his prime. I think there is more to Kiffin not getting a contract extension in the middle of season.
We saw how the Glazers did Dungy, we all looked on t.v. and he was packing his boxes into his durango. Let it go, it time to let it all go.
Gruden needs to go, his defensive cooridnator does not have a contract, and he is going to sign every 30 something year old veteran he can to save his job. Face it, his contract is up after this season, and the schedule thanks to winning the weak NFC south this year is going to be a lot harder than this years.
I just hope the Glazers do the right thing and make the tough call. So what if we are going to get more weapons on offense if the QB is only going to throw the ball 5 yards down the field. The offensive philosophy is garbage, and everyone around the league knows it. The man is predicitable, and that is why when we get into the playoffs just like in 05 we were one and done....
Its a sad day but the end is here and true fans know the writing is on the wall..... The team is nothing and that is the sad truth...

Being a transplant from New York I still love the Giants and follow the Bucs as well. I have never seen fans and media so negative. Make a list of better coaches than the one you have, offense or defense. I do not think Gruden is the problem. He won a Super Bowl. Remember the madness and how you all loved Gruden.
If you kept Dungy you would still be begging for the trophy. Give Gruden a break and sign some speed on offense. The better team won, face facts. Go Giants! Good season Bucs.
Posted by: Big Blue | January 07, 2008 at 12:02 AM
Spare me the "Why did we get rid of Dungy" crapola, or the "Let's do the same to Gruden" crapola. Dungy was completely, totally and absolutely inept when it came to offense. If we hadn't fired him when we did, Tampa might have had to wait another 27 years to win a Super Bowl. He is one dimensional, and if Manning was not QB in Indy, Dungy would have been fired there by now, too. The fact our defense has gotten BETTER since he left tells you he is not good at anything beyond identifying good managers (ie, coaches). Other than that he is completely unsuited to being a head coach.
Gruden is a proven winner, with 5 division titles in 10 years with 2 teams, and a Super Bowl victory. If I told you the next coach would win the South every other year for the next decade, and win the Super Bowl along the way, you would say, "Sign him up". The people calling for Gruden's head are a bunch of uninformed, impressionable morons being led by the nose by rabble-rousers like Steve Dum-big on 620 am. Be patient (like the Steelers, who waited 15 years for Cowher to win 1 Super Bowl, and who only had a winning record 6 of the last 10 years - when would you have started calling for his head, Dum-big?).
Since arriving, Gruden has 1. Won Super Bowl, 2. Won division championships, 3. Convinced Allen to take IDIOT McKay's place, undoing the damage to the salary cap, and 4. Stocked the team with people who love to play football, vs the malcontents like Johnson and Sapp and others.
I am a season ticket holder, and look forward to the next decade with Gruden and Allen. If they get fired, our prospects go down the tubes, and I will probably not renew next year. AND I MEAN THAT!
Posted by: df | January 07, 2008 at 12:07 AM
Malcontents like Sapp and Johnson eh? Sapp is going to Canton and Allen and Gruden contacted Johnson over the last two weeks to come back and play for them. Talking about misinformed!! Johnson had it right when he called Gruden a phony right to his face, and everyone who has left since have called him the exact same thing. Who is the common denominator here hmmm?
It was McKay that built your super bowl team that Gruden took over, not Allen. In order to build that team some cap problems came with it. Surely you would trade a couple of years of cap problems for a super bowl title right? The Bucs were 15 mil under the cap this year. Why didn't they improve the team even more instead of trading for a retired qb that took up 5 mil of that cap? Division titles mean NOTHING if you go out in the very next game at home! All it gets yyou is a tougher schedule the following year and nore excuses. Only a "moron" would suggest that fans would be satisfied with divisional titles with nothing else to show for it but another one and done. Tell that to the players, and see if they would appreciate it. You think they put in all that work to be happy with a first round playoff loss?
Gruden is a proven winner? How do explain his barely over .500 record in his six seasons here. If the Bucs hadn't played HIS Raiders in the SB, we probably would still be waiting for a SB title.
I don't need to be led by the nose by 620 personalities or anyone else to know what I am seeing.
Stocking a team with players that love to play football. Wouldn't it be better to stock a team that CAN play football? This season was smoke and mirrors at it's finest. A defense that put up great numbers against a very weak division with no quarterbacks in it. A team that beat one team with a winning record when they played them. A team that lost to Detroit!
As for the Steelers, they weren't going to fire a coach when the owners knew that he kept losing key players because they were too cheap to pay them and allowed them to go to free agency.
Don't let the door hit you in the !@# when you leave and take Gruden and Allen with you. AND I MEAN THAT AS WELL.
Your initials remind me of something that you have definitely shown to be, here in your post.

I have been a Buc Season ticket holder since 1987. I have sat through many years of bad football and over the past 10 years or so I have been there when we were winning as well.
I have to tell you that over the past 3-4 weeks I feel as though I have not been given the best product on the field that I deserve as a season ticket holder.
It is not very likely that I will re-up for my tickets next year unless I can be assured that I will be seeing the best player play on the field. Case in point is that the Giants went after it against the Patriots when they didn't have to. There is honor in that approach. There is no honor in an approach that puts an inferior product on the field with the idea that it will make the team ready for the play-offs.
Football is a violent game and there is always a risk of injury. To me, the fans deserve to see the best possible team throughout the season, all 16 games, not 14.
We lost 3 out of 4 going into the play-offs and today it showed. We were (Garcia) was out of sinc and the Giants seemed to be more game ready. Do you think that it might be becasue they played hard through game 16 and not 14...I do.
Posted by: Mark H | January 07, 2008 at 01:37 AM
Listen, I love Galloway, but the fact is he never fights for the ball, and rarely makes an effort to go after a pass that's even a little off target. I thought he was only doing that last year when Grads was in, but now I see it again this year. Receiver is the biggest area of need this off-season!
Posted by: Stephen Blackehart | January 07, 2008 at 04:04 AM
stephen, you cannot put the blame anywhere else but on garcias shoulders for that int in the endzone. dont blame galloway. it was a horrible throw, very gradkowski like. the blame should go exactly where it should go, on garcia. he played awful.
Posted by: aaron | January 07, 2008 at 05:04 AM
amen, bucco bruce!
Posted by: aaron | January 07, 2008 at 05:05 AM
Reciever is a must this off-season - Chad Johnson of Cincinnati perhaps?
A Run-stopping under-tackle to complement Haye, Adams and White.
If Cadillac can't come back, I like the look of Bennett as a speedy back.
Gruden and Allen should definately stay. I wouldn't even cut Clayton - he played fairly well yesterday.
Posted by: Oliver | January 07, 2008 at 05:51 AM
i would keep clayton too. i think our rb's are a good group. Graham, pittman, bennett, askew and caddy if he can comeback. i dont think he will ever be the same, though.
wr's i like our group of galloway, ike, clayton and stovall. although we absolutly need to draft a speedy wr to eventually take over for joey.
TE's are good. alex and stevens can do a decent job of blocking and recieving. and becht is a good vet to have.
LT, absolutly need a good tackle. penn is a good back up. and petigout is a no longer a good option as a starter.
we also need some good DT's
and QB's garcia is old and cant throw long. luke is a good back up. grad stinks. i like simms but apparently he has no futre with us. we need to draft a qb for the future.
Posted by: aaron | January 07, 2008 at 07:20 AM
Just the facts:
the last 18 years broken down into 6 year periods
90-95 multiple coaches, the Bucs were 32-64 with no winning seasons and no playoff appearances
96-01 Tony Dungy, the Bucs were 54-42 with 4 winning seasons, one 8-8 season and 4 playoff appearances (2-4)
02-07 Jon Gruden, the Bucs were 48-48 with 3 winning seasons and 3 playoff appearances (3-2), one Super Bowl win
Posted by: Ron | January 07, 2008 at 07:30 AM
To compare Gruden, even with a Super Bowl, to Cowher is completely absurd. Gruden's first 6 seasons with Bucs: 3 losing seasons and an average record 48-48. Since his first Super Bowl season, a great team he was blessed to take over with, his record has been 36-44. Most coaches get fired after that. Billick got fired and his numbers were better and he won a Super Bowl.
Cowher's first 6 seasons with Pittsburgh, 6 winning season, 6 playoff appearances, his record was 64-32. A moron would fire a coach with that record. Cowher's 15 year tenure with Pittsburgh, only 3 losing seasons, 149-90, and a Super Bowl.
Ron, I like the facts you put up. It should tell you something, the Bucs ship is sinking and the Captain needs to be overthrown to keep it from going under.
Posted by: DR | January 07, 2008 at 07:40 AM
Aaron: I agree with you re: Garcia throwing a bad ball on the end zone pick. He played horribly yesterday, no question. Not trying to ignore that fact. He got frustrated and forced many, many throws and he got in trouble as a result. Very uncharacteristic for him. All I'm saying regarding Galloway is, if I'm his coach, I want to see you make at least some effort to break up what was a ridiculously easy interception. Maybe if he takes Webster down he doesn't make that catch. Who knows? It's all irrelevant anyway I suppose. But I maintain that Galloway's effort is very disappointing.

Radical change is required. Fire Gruden, promote Monte Kiffin to head coach, at least then BOTH sides of the ball will be ready to play on Sunday. Promote Raheem Morris to defensive coordinator. Fire the entire offensive staff except perhaps Bill Muir. Hire a quality offensive coordinator (quality, not 'name' - if Mike Martz couldn't work with Rod Marinelli in Detroit I doubt he'd work here).
First priority in the draft is an impact defensive tackle; you'll have to pick the 2nd or 3rd best because Dorsey will be gone by the time the Bucs draft. Next choice is a shutdown, cover corner. Also need speed and hands at WR, though this could be addressed with some smart free agent signings.
The Bucs were $15M below last year's salary cap, there's money to spend - use it wisely Bruce Allen. However, if the Glazer's don't get MUCH closer to the cap next year the comparisons to Hugh Culverhouse should have quite an impact on the season ticket backlog.
Posted by: Larry S. | January 07, 2008 at 09:21 AM
Bad coaching, no adjustments, and a “can’t do” attitude lost this game. We got b-slapped in our house… sad.
Posted by: | January 07, 2008 at 10:00 AM
Radical changes? There have been many positives to this year, how many unknowns stepped up and played extremely well. How many of you thought the bucs would be above .500 let alone make the playoffs? Keep in mind, this team could have finished 11-5 with a weak schedule and we would have been happy.
I see many issues, but let some time pass and we'll see the good that came out of this year. The young OL will improve and be a force in the years to come if it can stay healthy. Secondary is still strong. TE looks good. DE's are young and we hope Gaines can turn into Mario Williams next year.
$32mill under the cap, I would believe there is talent that the Bucs can get to fill the needs, hope they spend it wisely. I'm sure the Glazers were in a wait and see mode with Gruden/Allen last year and this may have been part of the light spend that took place. Lets see what this offseason brings us.

Not much chatter about the Giants schedule this morning. They rushed 4 almost all game and were in Garcia's face all day long. The results had nothing to do with resting players, it had everything to do with the talent level on the field and they were all wearing blue. Gruden doesn't catch throw or tackle either.
Posted by: Dennis | January 07, 2008 at 10:56 AM
Gruden does not catch throw or tackle. I am so sick and tired of that old argument. Guess what? Those are his players that he has hand selected that catch throw and tackle. Come up with something better than that....
Posted by: Wilson | January 07, 2008 at 11:12 AM
OK, fire Gruden and the players will catch, throw and tackle better??!! You need to place responsibility where it belongs - on the field. You were simply outplayed. What is Barber saying this week? FORE....
Posted by: Dennis | January 07, 2008 at 12:53 PM
Gruden is a proven winner? How do explain his barely over .500 record in his six seasons here? Key word here is OVER 500. That means he has a winning record and it's proven. Come on guy’s how many of you expected the Bucs to win the Supper Bowl? The Packers have one of the Best records along with the Boys, and Colts and I’ll bet none of them with the Super Bowl either. Hello you play to win the game. There will be only one winner. Chances are it will be the Pats as much as I hate them. We couldn’t beat the Giants, the Giants couldn’t beat the Pats and when they get knocked out of the playoffs should Coughlin be fired? Get over yourselves, were not a super bowl team, but we did a lot better then expected and for nine weeks of this season I had a smile on my face. I give the guys credit for playing hard in this weak conference, but as least we won it.
Posted by: bbobb | January 07, 2008 at 01:08 PM
Garcia was the weak link. I don't think his lack of help is what lost the game. He wasn't fresh, had no momentum after taking the past few games off. Galloway is now showing age. This team was way out of sync after losing 3 out of 4 leading up to the playoffs. What a waste of a great year for the defense. Brooks is my favorite player (along with Alstott). I'll admit it may be time for him to move off the field. Would love to see Brooks coach this defense!!! We can be assured there will be no division title next year. If we keep Garcia and the other old farts, it is going to be ugly on offense. Now is the time to bring in a youthful QB and get rolling.
Posted by: M | January 07, 2008 at 01:31 PM
So far no one appears be wrong about what is being said about the Bucs season. That must mean the Bucs have a lot of problems they need to address before next season........
Posted by: Jim | January 07, 2008 at 01:37 PM
Some guys on here seem very dismal about the entire organisation after yesterday. I would just say we were beaten by a better side. The defense could only match them in the first quarter - after the Ny had control. Kiffin and Gruden need to both stay - the team chemistry this season has been at its best since 02. Our pass-rushers will get better with experience, as will our offensive line. It's that simple - experience in the play-offs, playing as a strong unit. There is much to be hopeful for, Buc fans - A speedy, downfield threat is a must this off-season, Bernard Berrian or D.J Hackett are both signable.
Come on guys, stick with the Bucs and the coaches - the team is headed very much in the right direction - the first time in years. Its easy to be disappointed with the result - I sure was! But look at what these guys have achieved this year, and they can only get better as the grow. Garcia and Brooks are the veteran leadership, thy will give their all next season too - it could be their last shot.
Keep the faith, Buc fans - this organisation and team is doing a good job.

A Real disappointing loss in a game that we should have won. Who gets the blame?? For starters Gruden, why? because we went into this game with a QB that was rested, TOO RESTED. He was very inconsistent, off the mark, just terrible. We got away from a gameplan that used the run during the first TD drive. WHY?? We need receivers really bad, but this seems to be the same problem year after year from their inception. The defense needs a few changes, but they played well. They got tired. No momentum. I am disappointed that it all came down to this and once again we lost. Maybe coach should sit down and decide if he will make the changes needed for another winning team, if not give someone else a chance. I for one am tired of the losing at a crucial time and want a consistant winner.
Posted by: dhajzer | January 07, 2008 at 01:50 PM
Look, the Bucs played one of their worst games of the year, and the Giants took advantage.
I don't know if I completely agree that the G-Men are that much more talented than the Bucs (remember, our boys were flying around in that first quarter like they were world beaters).
But, some glaring issues with this team were exploited:
1) No one here has talked about the O-Line. Trueblood is great in run blocking, but is a revolving door in the passing game. Yes, he faced one of the best rushers EVER, but he was completely dominated Sunday. They need to get better in pass protection.
2) It is obvious that they need a receiver. A pass catcher. There really is not a go-to guy on this team. Galloway is taken out of games sometimes (like Sunday). He's a solid number two. We need a number ONE.
3) I love Brooks, but it is really time to hang it up ... or at least time for him to understand and accept that he has clearly lost a step. Five years ago, he makes a play on that ball to Brandon Jacobs, picks it off and maybe even takes it to the house. Three years ago, he at least knocks it down. But now, he needs to realize that he just needs to make the tackle.
Gruden is a good coach who despite the salary cap purgatory that Rich McKay left the franchise in, he's been able to overcome. Let's not forget, this is the FIRST season he's had with a room under the cap. And he won nine games and the division (YES, it was a weak division ... but he won it).
Face it fans ... Gruden did buy himself another season. Over 14 players on the IR? Are you kidding me? Somehow this team overcame that and found some hidden gems in the process (like Graham).
For those who want Kiffin to be the head coach: it was his completely flawed gameplan that allowed Eli Manning to burn the Bucs yesterday.
Let me ask you this: what is the best way to beat the Giants? Everyone in the league would say get after Eli. I don't care if Jacobs rushed for 220 yards, if the D got after Eli early and often, he would have been forced into mistakes ... and the Bucs would have had a field day. Kiffin was out-coached yesterday. Plain and simple. I blame him for Sunday's loss more than the offense and Gruden.
Bottom line: this team showed a lot of potential to be pretty darn good down the road. Get over the hatred for Gruden and open your eyes. This team has plenty of room under the cap and a decent draft pick coming up with a young and improving o-line. Yes, the QB and top WRs are old. But, there is time to fix that.
I guarantee everyone will be pleasantly surprised next season. Go Bucs!
I'll get off my soap box now.
Posted by: Pete | January 07, 2008 at 02:07 PM
And one more thing: for those all up in arms about the weak NFC South, let's not act like the Giants owned their division. They finished 3-3 in the NFC East. They only have THREE regular season wins against teams with .500 records or better ... that's one more than the Bucs had.
So, settle down.
Posted by: Pete | January 07, 2008 at 02:22 PM
Although he is not the offensive answer Paris Warren impressed the hell out of me in Preseason. I'm hoping he comes back 100% and earns a spot on the roster.
Posted by: JJ | January 07, 2008 at 03:07 PM
I'll readily admit to not being a Gruden fan. He won the Super Bowl with Tony Dungy's team and hasn't done much with it since (...talk about a bad firing, Dungy has more class in his little finger than the entire Bucs front office...don't believe me??...remember the John Lynch debacle...and nobody having the cohones to call Warren Sapp and tell him man to man that he's not in the team's future...).
I was more than a little amazed at what the Bucs accomplished this year, I had them at 5-11 preseason. They moved up from that group of bad teams (Atlanta and Miami lead this year's group) to a middle of the road team. They're still not up to the elite level in the NFL, not that many clubs in the NFC are right now (Seattle comes closest).
There are positives to come from this year. The offensive line is the best we've had in 10 years and should get better. Safety is a strong position, and the linebacker corps is still solid even if Derrick Brooks is on the back side of his career. Tight ends are a strength, and running back should be deep next year; ditto the quarterbacks.
Coaches don't make the plays, but they 1) make the game plan, 2) adjust to what they see on the field, and 3) set the standard of performance that their players must meet. Gruden plans well, but don't seem to adjust terribly well once the game begins (...Galloway is obviously hurt, can't even run at full speed because the shoulder hurts too much, don't take him out until the game is decided, need I say more...). His biggest shortcoming, IMHO, is his apparent inability to squeeze mistakes out of the equation. Good teams do that, do you believe Belichick, Cowher, or Dungy would keep players on the field after making some of the errors the Bucs have this year?
Dungy took a dead franchise and made it one of the elite teams in the NFL but couldn't win the big one. Gruden did get over that hump, but hasn't been able to keep the team playing at that elite level. The team did very well this year against a very weak schedule, but must get markedly better in the off-season just to be a .500 team in '08. Can Gruden win 10 next year and get them back into the playoffs? Maybe, but I bet the Vegas oddmakers put the Bucs at 50-1.
Posted by: Larry S. | January 07, 2008 at 03:57 PM
this is the worst town of fans i can think of. Before the season starts everyone is saying how horrible we will be, we end up making the playoffs everyone is on the bandwagon than "joey is ageless" "brooks is playing great" "best coaching job gruden has ever done" than we lose a game and everyone either needs to be fired or retire.
Look at how many people we lost due to injury we had our second team offense out there against a great defense. It would be great to see a little bit more loyalty for your team, your players, and your coaches.
If i remember correctly everyone was calling for Dungy's head and when it finally happened everyone was pissed about how it was done. Be careful what you ask for people you just might get it.
Posted by: shane | January 07, 2008 at 04:07 PM
This was without a doubt Gruden's best season coaching. This team very much overacheived this year. There was a reason not one Buc player was selected to the pro bowl. The team improved this season. We were beaten sunday by a more talented team. Buc fans should be excited about this off-season (yet disappointed we're not in the playoffs still). $32 million in salary cap room, can you say impact free agent. Youngest o-line in football with another year of experience, same with the d-line. We should be looking forward to next year with Gruden, Allen, and kiffin leading this team. If Gruden had played the starters the last 2 games and some got hurt you'd still be calling for his head. So get your own heads from your butts and look at the reality. It takes time for players to develop into stars. And we have some that will shine very bright very soon. Go Bucs 1st repeat NFC South division champs division.

If I see one more jacka$$ whine about, "Gruden one a superbowl with Tony's team" I'm gonna SNAP!!!! Dungy was too damn bullheaded and WASTED several seasons that could've resulted in superbowl appearances if he just would've hired an offensive coordinator that was willing to open things up. I got sooooo sick and tired of watching "Tony's teams" get bounced in the playoffs because they could only kick field goals! Yeah, Gruden won the Superbowl with most of the players Dungy had, but it was because of his offensive design and philosophy that those SAME PLAYERS were able to exploit the opposition! Face it...that wasen't the most talented offense, yet they averaged over 20 points per game in the playoffs. That is the result of Gruden getting the most out of the players available. For those of you calling for Gruden's head.....remember, this organization gave up a boat-load of high draft picks to get him and jacka$$ McKay left the team in purgatory because of his inability to manipulate the cap. Those were the two biggest reasons Gruden hasen't been able to have more success after the 2002 season. Allen's done one hell of a job and they are in excellent shape going into 2008 to sign some quality free agents. I'll admit....after yesterdays debacle I was irate and ready to call for Gruden's head as well, but after sleeping on it and considering everything, he's done a pretty good job with the lack of talent he's had.

Giant D line too much for Bucs O line but line is young and needs to gel.
Give Brooks a clipboard and let him teach the young players. Some players know when to leave, some need to be told. Get a clipboard for Garcia also. He's not Vinny or George Blanda so TELL him what his new role is...period. Tell Barber to SHUT UP and let Johnson stay retired. Thats a start, now for the draft.......

Yes Brooks has gotten a year older, but look at the numbers he has a good season. And if he looked out of position it was because he was trying to make a play and took more risk. He is the leader of this defense and he has made monetary sacrafices for this team. If he gets released he'll be one of the first FA picked up. He shoulld retire as a Buc PERIOD!! He has been way more productive than Alstot and I don't see people screaming for him to retire. The D was on the field a lot because the O didn't move the ball. They were tired and when you are tired you miss some plays. Next year we should draft our future QB. I liike Grad and Mac but I think Sims should saty as the back up because of his contract and I think he's better than both grad and Mac. We should pick up Colt or Woodson late in the first if they are still there. They run versions of the West Coast offense and I think with a year under Gruden they will be rady in a season or so. Get some WR that can scare opposing Ds. Draft another rush end, DT, or a QB with first round pick. WR are too risky in the first so pick one up in the 2nd or 3rd. Draft a DB for Barber. in FA get a Vet at WR and C. But before the do any of the above Sign Monte Kiffin to a new deal. He deserves it for post the 2nd best D in the league without one All Pro. IF they gave awards for assistant coaches of the year he would win hands down for doing more with less.
