Bucs visit with Crumpler and Coleman
Atlanta free agent defensive tackle Rod Coleman is concluding his visit with the Bucs today. His Falcons teammate, tight end Alge Crumpler, met with the team Tuesday.
Both players underwent physicals.
General manager Bruce Allen is believed to have begun preliminary talks with Crumpler's agent, James Williams.
Crumpler met with the Tennesee Titans today and also is expected to talk with the Seattle Seahawks.
Crumpler, the four-time Pro Bowler, has more than 4,000 career receiving yards and 35 touchdowns. He would provide the Bucs with a complete tight end who obviously excels as a receiver. Tight ends Anthony Becht and Jerramy Stevens are free agents.
Crumpler struggled with a knee injury last season and finished with just 42 receptions.
Coleman played in just five games last season after suffering quadriceps, triceps and wrist injuries. He originally was drafted by Allen with the Oakland Raiders.

If Tampa could get Crumpler,Coleman and Samuel that would be three prize Free Agents that I believe would point the bucs in the right direction, plus if we could get that wr from denver, and also sign Foster from Carolina. Then Tampa could get ready fron the NFL draft with 20,51,83 & 115 selections. Then Tampa would be successful.

Foster is going to sign with San Fran, Crumpler would be nice but may go to Tennessee, however I do see Coleman coming to Tampa. As for Samuel, I'd say the Bucs ask Ronde if he'd be ok with being paid less than Samuel. Knowing Ronde, he wouldn't care, and then I'd sign Asante before the hated Eagles or Saints do. See my contract offers to free agents below.

Algae Crumpler:
2 years $14 mil w/ $8 mil. option.
Rod Coleman:
3 years $17 mil
Bernard Berrian:
5 years $30 mil
Asante Samuel:
5 years $60 mil w/ $10 mil option
Julius Jones:
3 years $10 mil
Restructure Graham:
4 years $20 mil
Resign Kevin Carter:
2 years $7 mil
That would total an average of $42 million per year. The contracts should be structured to where each player's salary slightly increases each year, as the salary cap increases. This would still leave the Bucs with room to sign backups and draft picks. But like I said, Crumpler is probably Tennessee bound and Julius Jones probably wants to start somewhere. I guess we'll see.

Dude, no way in hell are Crumpler, Coleman, and Berrian worth a annual average salary of 7, 5.6, and 6 million a year, respectively.
Crumpler is asking for 4 mil, and will probably get around 3.5. Coleman, coming off the injuries will probably get around the same. Berrian is a good deep threat, but he's not a #1 receiver. Only way he's making over 4-4.5 mil a year is if some desperate team overpays him.

were did TY learn how to manage a salary cap, playing Madden?Lets leave the money handling to the GM im pretty sure thats why he's here but I do like the players mentioned,Samuals with Buchanon is a awsome combo with Barber getting older but we dont need Julius Jones there are plenty og good backs in the draft and Darby wasn't to shabby last year for being are last pick in the draft.

Ok, but I seriously think that those guys could get that much. Remember, there are multiple teams interested in each of these guys and I do believe that Berrian has the skills to be a no. 1 some day. Just watch, I guarentee that these players will get this much money. Plus, like I said, we wouldn't actually get all of these guys or offer all this money to them at once.

You all complain that the Bucs don't spend money on good FA's, I'm just trying to appease you. Quit being a bunch of hypocrites.

Ty, I don't know if we should spend all the money we have under the cap this year. Plus, I think we still need to set aside a portion of the available money to sign the upcoming draftees.

Ty, No doubt some teams will overpay these players ( see San Fran / Nate Clements deal last year). I just don't want us to be the guinea pig.

We never had any cap money to spend on free agents until Allen straightened it out. I agree with spending more on free agency than the draft because you know what to expect. A free agent is a starter whereas a draft pick (even a high one) might not start right away, if at all. I'm just saying spend wisely!

We spent plenty enough money on free agents last year if I recall,Garcia,June,Carter,Petigoue,or how ever you spell his last name, my point is we have the cap know,we didnt the 5 years up untill last year and know being 40mill under we will fill the wholes with the best player available at the position and have the money we need for the draft, ther aren't that many wholes to plug in the first place so all wre going to do is improve.

Yea, I just really want this team to improve. I was at the game against the Giants and have never been so disappointed in this team in my life if not only for the reason that I had to listen to all of those idiotic Giants fans plus it was my first Bucs game I had ever attended. I hate those snowbirds and that loss just really irked me. How about this then, we still try to sign Asante Samuel and Bernard Berrian. If not Berrian then D.J. Hackett would be nice. I would really like to see the Bucs draft Rashard Mendenhall but he probably won't be available at the 20th spot.
