Bucs sign DE Wilkerson
Okay, so Chiefs' free agent defensive end Jimmy Wilkerson has five starts in five pro seasons and one career sack.
That didn't stop the Bucs from signing him to a two-year contract Saturday, according to agent Joby Branion.
The 6-foot-2, 290-pound Wilkerson might be able to play defensive end or tackle in the Tampa Two scheme. The Bucs were thin at the defensive end position after releasing Greg Spires and Kevin Carter on Wednesday. Carter may still re-sign with the Bucs.
Wilkerson won't take away playing time from Gaines Adams or Greg White. But he could work into the rotation with Patrick Chukwurah.
The Bucs could have a few more signings today. Titans tight end Ben Troupe is visiting today and receiver Devery Henderson met with the Bucs Friday.

Whatever. Hopefully this adds depth. It sure would be nice if we could make a trade or two, such as trading for Larry Fitzgerald, or Lito Sheppard.

BUCS, START GETTING SERIOUS!!! We need players!!! Start making big moves like signing Donte' Stallworth, trade for Javon Walker or any big WR, sign Devery Henderson, or something. Gruden & Allen, you say we gonna make a "splash" in free agency but you not doing it. WAKE UP & START MAKING BIG-TIME MOVES!!! COME ON!!!

Lets just hope that was a relatively cheap signing. With how week the KC defense has been over the past few years, I never really put too much hope in defensive players from that team.

You'd think with seasons ticket invoices due this week, Bruce Allen would be doing a little more to put backsides in seats than trying to sell us Jimmy Wilkerson jerseys.

'Warm bodies for training camp' signings usually don't start until after the draft. I really hope this guy is just filling that kind of need - and nothing much is expected from him.

How far back in the scouting reports can you go. I mean really, I thought last years signing of Chukwurah was out of left field but this is something. Either we have one hell of a personal department or these guys have lost their ever lovin minds. I seriously hope they did drop a lot of coin on this guy.

It is no doubt that we have the most ignorant fans in the league. "Wake up and start making big-time moves", What!?! This is not Madden. Just ask the Redskins and 49ers how those big signings worked out. Our biggest immediate need was center, very few good ones available, we got the best center possible. Excellant job!

yeah i agree with ty guy, lets go trade for larry fitgerald..... NOT!!! are you crazy guy, he is owed something like 16 million this year and for the next three, we should sit tight and draft a WR in the first or second round

Jovan Haye was 'just a guy' until the Bucs picked him up from Cleveland's waiver wire. So was Phillip Buchanon, Greg White, Donald Penn, Earnest Graham, Hovan, et al. I DO have some confidence in the guys in the Bucs' pro scouting dept.
Adam Schefter at NFL Network was saying yesterday how the Bucs are being smart by waiting a few days until the insanity dies down and some of these players realize they're not going to break the bank anywhere. He said he expects the team to sign a lot of second tier players for depth, plus maybe one or two splash players late.

Ignorant fans please don't make ridiculous posts. It's fairly irritating to those of us who actually have an aptitude for football. I bet you're the same guys that thought we'd go 4-12 again last year; that GruAllen were ignorant fools with no direction. This team is gonna be tough to beat this year with a solid offense and defense. We're not looking for "splash" because we've already got a pretty friggin' good roster. We're looking for depth. Defensive tackle is exactly one of our need spots, and if you think you are a better evaluator of talent than Kiffin, probably the best defensive coordinator in the history of the game, then post elsewhere ok? 10 of 11 and nine straight seasons in the top 10 on defense! Unbelievable ignorance. We rotate a lot of players at the under tackle and we are looking for depth. He may be cut by training camp for all we know, but who cares, let them do their jobs while your doing yours...btw...where is my pizza boy?

So the advice from the fans to the Bucs is: PANIC! Throw money at every big name! This is the 1st year we have been in excellent shape cap wise and people want to mortgage the future again and then blame Allen for ruining their team.
