WR Hackett to visit Tampa

The Bucs continue to examine the free agent receivers available and plan to take a closer look at one on Thursday.

Seattle free agent D.J. Hackett is scheduled to visit the Bucs on Thursday, according to his agent, Kevin Robinson. He was on his way to Washington this morning for a visit with the Redskins, the first visit for both the player and team since the start of free agency on Feb. 29. Hackett also is scheduled to stop in Charlotte, N.C. for a visit with the Panthers on Friday.

The 26-year-old Hackett was slowed by an ankle injury last season and finished with 364 yards on 32 receptions in six games. Among those were two 100-yard games.

The Bucs have had only preliminary contract talks with Hackett's agent. The Seahawks remain a possible destination for Hackett, especially because the Seahawks are concerned about having to play part of the season without leading receiver Deion Branch, who sustained a torn ACL in a playoff game in January. It's possible he won't be ready at the start of the regular season.

I think we should definitely sign Hackett if he gets out of Washington. He'd be a perfect #2 in our offense.

I would rather have Bryant Johnson from the cards, but Hackett will do.

I would have to agree with Al on this. Bryant Jonhson would be the better of the two, but if we can't work something out with him we should persue D.J.

either one would probably end up playing more than antonio bryant.

Bryant Johnson is our last chance to make an impact on offense before the draft. No thanks to DJ Hackett.

Why not sign both? I don't trust any WR on our roster...We need more than one impact guy. Galloway is 37...Clayton stinks and Stovall is unproven coming off a bad injury

What about the guy who got hurt last year... the reciever who has great potential.. no is talking about him.. if only I could remember his name.... LOL

Let's be realistic, guys. When was the last time we had a top flight, all-pro caliber WR on our roster? It's time to quit screwing the pooch and make a move to get a quality WR instead of the bandaids that we continuously try to resuscitate. Allen spoke of the ability to procure talent from any other team's roster via trade. Hello....Larry Fitzgerald?!? That's not happening anymore. I hope he wasent't just blowing smoke up our arses.

Hackett might be better than Bernard Berrian, and certainly would be cheaper. I say sign him (if he makes it out of Washington), and then ALSO go out and get Johnson, and then inquire about Shockey in New York.

There will always be the chance that one of these guys is another Alvin Harper or Emmanuel, but we can't live in the past like that. Need to take some chances. We had the same worries about Galloway once.

Paris Warren.

If our QB's had a little more time; our receivers would look a lot better.

Kurt our line is only going to get better and as a matter of fact the best we've had in a long time, hell ever. If our receiver got seperation our QB's would be alot better.

If we can get him cheap, fine. But the guy has never had more than 600 yds receiving in a year. How is he an upgrade over Clayton?

Why does no one ever mention Ike. All that guy did last year was catching everything throw at him. Is he a game breaker, no but he is a solid number #2 over all these other FA Wideouts.

only problem with ike is that he is about 48 yrs old ... he has ZERO separation in his game now and that will only be magnified

look for The Dan to sign Hackett to some outrageous contract ... and Bruce will talk about using the money to re-signing all-pros like Earnestine Graham
Sigh ....
