Former Buc Pearson arrested
Former Bucs safety Kalvin Pearson is being held without bond in a Tampa jail after getting arrested on charges of domestic violence, including domestic battery by strangulation, according to Hillsborough County jail records.
Pearson, 29, was booked this morning at 7:48 a.m. at Orient Road Jail, with two felony and one misdemeanor charges; aggravated battery of a pregnant female, domestic battery by strangulation, and obstructing or opposing an officer without violence.
According to the arrest affidavit, the alleged victim was in a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer when she was grabbed her hair, and neck against her will by Pearson, who began to choke her; as a result of the strangulation, the victim had red marks and bruising all around her neck. The report states that after struggling with the woman, Pearson fled the scene before getting apprehended by deputies. The woman was pregnant with Pearson's child, and he had knowledge of the pregnancy at the time of the incident, according to the report.
When reached Saturday afternoon, Pearson's Alabama-based agent, Michael Hawthorne, said they were still trying to sort out the details and would be able to offer a comment later. Hawthorne was vague regarding whether Pearson and the alleged victim were still in a relationship, saying "They've never been together, as far as we know."
"I found out (about the arrest) two-and-a-half hours ago," Hawthorne said. "We're trying to gather information now."
There was a $500 bond set for the obstructing charge, but no bond set for the other two charges.
Pearson spent three solid seasons with the Bucs, making 87 tackles in 46 games, before signing a three-year, $3.5 million deal with the Lions last month.

WHY DOES GRUDEN KEEP SIGNING THESE GUYS?
What? The Lions? Rod Marinelli?
But Rod is a Dungy guy?
That means he has to cut Pearson, right?
What? He'll suspend him? For the first quarter of the fourth preseason game?
Against the Dolphins?

This just in...the Raiders just traded for Pearson.Al Davis was quoted as saying that , "now I have a guy who CAN beat instead of being beat."

Innocent until proven guilty. Innocent until proven guilty people. The Tampa Police Department is amongst the most corrupt in the United States, and that's undisputed by even their most ardent supporters. He!l, their spokespersons don't even deny that. This man was a he!l of a player for the Bucs, and I for one was not pleased to see him go. We should have stepped up and paid the man. This is his personal life, and I'm inclined to believe he is innocent. And even if not, so what? He didn't kill anyone. 87 tackles in 3 seasons. Tell me where we're going to replace that. We lost a good player, and it's going to hurt our club. Period.

Seriously? So, what, he didn't kill anyone? I guess if OJ could still lace 'em up you would want him too! Oh, that's right...he was found innocent. I guess its OK then! Puhleasse!
Juanita, we love Warrick Dunn for his achievements on and off the field. Let Pearson play for the Bengals.
PS Anyone notice that kid arrested in Valrico (I know he's innocent too) was wearing a Bengals shirt? Ironic.

Do you realize that domestic violence
is a MUST ARREST everywhere in the USA?
Your bias against the police is irrelevant. If they were so
corrupt then NOT arresting them would have been bad policing. I'm sure you don't even know what the word corrupt means...
just another feeb...

Keep in mind, professional football is not made up of choir boys. Dozens of Bucs players, past and present, have been arrested for a variety of crimes and misdemeanors over the last decade. Welcome to the NFL. Exhibit A is Jerramy Stevens. He's got talent, and that's why he's on the roster. Yes, he's an undeniable r@pist, but he can help this team get deep in the playofs, which is why we overlook the fact that he's a sexxual predator and violent felon.

The Bucs should be applauded for not signing this earthworm. His crime? Battery on a pregnant woman by strangulation. I don;t like the sound of it one bit. Under Gruden, the Bucs have ignored character and employed some real greaseballs. This guy was one and I believe they should have a press conference and announce that they knew of his penchant for violence against females and that's why they didn't sign him. Even if it's disingenuous, it's an opportunity to exploit some good P.R.

i hope we get someone in the draft to replace his pruduction the bucs have to meny lose ends and i believe that we need somone good to make up 4 this loss and the gain of detroit lions draft day is here and now and important this is not..

The job of the Bucs is to put a winning team on the field. Period. Personally, I don't care if the roster is Rae Carruth, OJ Simpson, Jerramy Stevens, Maurice Clarett, Michael Vick, Pac Man Jones, Lawrence Phillips, Chris Henry, Nate Newton, etc, etc, etc. If this collection of sociopaths wins games, then mission accomplished. Gruden, Bruce Allen, and the Glazer's are all fully in agreement.

I find this kind of behavior completely unacceptable. First of all, he wasn't pulled over for DUI. Doesn't he understand that those are the only kind of offenses that are defensible in the Tampa Bay area?

jerramy stevens was convicted of no crime and wasnt even charged...if he did it they would have went after him but chose not to because maybe he is not guilty!!! lay off of him and let him play ball.

I am sure he would yell,"I didn't do it" That is his right. Remember as stated before Innocent until proven guilty. I personally agree with that, for anyone. I hope he did not do it. But he will get his day in court.

The draft baby, the draft! I LOVE THIS DAY! I hope Jenkins is still available!

Juanita: You must think domestic violence is okay as long as no one is killed. Is that the kind of life you lead?
The NFL is a joke, as are most sports these days. Athletes feel they are above the law just because of who they are. No morals whatsoever.

Who cares? This is news? A football player beats the spit out of his pregnant lover. How about a war with no end in sight? A recession or worst, a depression? UBL regaining strength. Foreclosures at an all time high. Gas at an all time high. No middle class. Wages slashed, jobs cut, and a rapidly rising cost of living. I'm sorry, but some football star beating up his lover is simply not newsworthy right now.

The guy may be innocent, ever think of that? Bottom line, he's a heck of a good football player and we missed an opportunity to keep him here. What happens between him and his wife is their business. Like they say, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

Let's pray for the victim, Mr. Pearson, the families, and for the Bucs to get a 30-tackle safety as a replacement.

I thought the tax payer built a shiny new stadium for the aggression.

My grandfather, who was born in 1889 and had an 8th grade education said,"You're not a man if you hit a woman."Too bad modern day athletes don't know this.Juanita did you sleep with this guy you seem defensive.

dirtrock you are correct.

He is innocent. I am his cousin and yall need to get some business. It was actually his brother they have him confused with.
