Gruden on Taylor, possible trades
I asked Jon Gruden about the Bucs being linked several potential trades, including the one involving Jason Taylor. I'll just say that he didn't deny the possibility that something might go down before day's end.
"There have been some trade rumors and I don't think we're any different than anybody else," he said. "When you're talking about high-profile players, we're going to pick up the phone and see what's going on. It's part of our job."
Hmmm....

please.. lets just kill this trade rumor... no trade for taylor.. i HOPE somebody else takes care of him.. not the bucs.

Dave i have no problem with jason taylor.. the problem is the second round pick... i would welcome him for a fourth round pick like the patriots did.. don't get me wrong.

Now that we have some picks to spare after trading down with Jacksonville for DJax 2.0, we can throw some at Miami for Jason Taylor. I think it's a good deal all around.

I think the question now is what WR's make the team. We will carry 5, 6 at the most.
Galloway [given]
Hillard [given] ? Gruden likes vets too much to cut him, right.
Stovall - still has some upside. is a maniac on special teams.
D. Jackson - the second round pick BETTER make the squad.
A Bryant - probably the most skills after Galloway, as long as he has a good attitude through preseason you would think he has to make it.
Thats 5.
clayton - does he finally come around.
Warren - was GREAT last preseason. EG anyone.
Spurlock - probably has lost his job.
Chad lucas - back to the practice squad.
Assuming we carry 6 Clayton might be fighting for a future in this league in a competition with Warren.
On paper we actually have talent at WR. It's up to the coaches to get them to perform and produce.
The clayton/Warren saga that might play out over the preseason should be interesting.

So much for that Taylor trade. As per the Miami Herald:
The Dolphins didn't even field calls for Taylor, according to general manager Jeff Ireland.
''Didn't get any calls,'' Ireland said when asked how much activity there was in advance of a possible trade. ``There was no discussion.''
Several Internet reports had the Dolphins trading Taylor to Tampa Bay for various draft picks. The reports were obviously wrong.
''I was not aware of it,'' Ireland said. ``I was aware of it after the fact, but obviously it was strictly rumor.''
This much is not rumor: Despite vice president of football operations Bill Parcells saying that the only way Taylor doesn't play for Miami this year is if he retires, the Dolphins are indeed open to trading Taylor.

I dont get all the Taylor nay sayers. Look if you people where the best in your company at what you do and put up the best numbers of everyone in the company for the last 4 years ( over 10 sacks per year) from the time you where 30 -34 years old. Would you be mad if someone fired you because you where getting to old?

This guys a stud . You people are out of your mind.. Why dont you go back to sleep, your too old, your washed up, your a slack, you not worth a unproven draft pick after all your almost 34 years old.. NO one in this league has more sacks in the last 4 seasons. Imaginer the leadership he could offer Gaines and the rest of the D Line Nasty with him and Adams on the ends with Hovan and White.. Woooooo Get some
