Jason Taylor deal close?

Talk of a Jason Taylor-to-the-Bucs deal is gaining strength, and we're hearing a trade may already be agreed to.

As told to us, the deal would involve, at a minimum, the Bucs' second-round pick, No. 52 overall, in exchange for the 33-year-old likely Hall-of-Famer.

The Bucs have continued to bemoan the lack of a consistent pass rush, and adding a player with 117 career sacks would certainly be a step in the right direction. But there are challenges involved in this potential deal, not the least of which is addressing Taylor's contract. Taylor is scheduled to earn $17-million over the final two years of his contract.

It's conceivable there will be an agreement in place before the trade to restructure the contract, but it's too early to say.

frank c. costanza

we need to get younger, not older. oy

Joe

Exactly Frank. Plus we're now thisssss close to getting Mike Jenkins

John P

I don't work the scouting department, but I've got to believe there is at least one player on the board in the second round who has a better upside than Jason Taylor.

Are we getting this guy for what he did - or for what he's going to do?

Duffiedawg

For goodness sakes, get this guy, if possible. We need him to be a book-end to Adams.

Please, please draft Mike Jenkins. Get him here while Rhonde can still teach him.

Bob

This is such a stupied idea. Okay lets give up a 2nd round pick for a guy who's past his prime and will play 1 or 2 years for us. THIS IDEA IS STUPIED

John P

I can't believe they drafted Talib over Jenkins!!!!!!

Joe

Noooooo!!! Why not Mike?

JS

NOOO!!! we just pick aqib talib. WHYYYY!!!!!!!! we needed mike jenkins... ok they are cbs but talib has off field problems.. ok enough about this.. we need a wr in the second round.. not jason taylor..
please offer a thrid at most.. not second

Michael Singleton

Talib are you kidding me there were better options. Had to be someone wanting to trade into the first round and grab Mendenhall. What were the BUCS thinking here. Jason Taylor would be a great addition but not for a second round pick. Get Trevor Laws!

Keith

Because Williams is TOO good of a guy to play for Gruden. We need to continue to add wife beaters, drunk drivers, pot heads (talib), and overrated league wash-outs. Hopefully we can trade for Akili Smith or Jeff George

Matt

There are going to be some studs available in the second round, they're off their rocker trading for Taylor and giving up a 2nd.

How about a 5th this year and a 2nd in 2011 if he plays 3 years for us.

DanW

talib, worst decision ever, waste of a pick.Should of drafted Jenkins, hes used to playing in the hot florida weather, has great talent, and no off the field problems. Hope we do better in the 2nd round, but i dont have high expectations now. way to blow this one gruden and staff.

Matt

Get over the Mike Jenkins junk! Remove your BULL love for him, and realize he was inconsistent all year. Talib is a top 10 talent, and would have been the first CB taken, if not for the weed. Talib could very well be our steal at CB like we did with Sapp. The kid was only a Junior and could have been the first CB taken if not for the pot. Non-issue now, Bucs need a WR in the worst way. Hopefully we get Avery!

Ed

Thank you Matt!

BRandon

You morons need to quit talking about Jenkins like he is great. He was arrested last year, take your Bull blinders off. First off, the Talib pick was atrocious but still slightly better than Jenkins who can't tackle AND has off field problems.

Travis

Talib > Jenkins, the only reason were hearing all the Jenkins talk is because hes from Florida. Talib is definitely the better talent, and if he admitted to the pot, hes obviously an honorable guy who is looking to clean his act up.

As for the Jason Taylor thing, it turned out to be crap rumor, good thing we didn't waste a 2nd on him though

Bucsfan

thank you Matt

good job Gruden and all
