Trueblood to left tackle? Maybe

We'd heard a while back that there had been thought of moving Jeremy Trueblood back to left tackle, where he played at Boston College. Now, Jon Gruden confirms it, though nothing is imminent.

The situation at left tackle is a little tenuous given the fact Luke Petitgout is coming off season-ending knee surgery and backup Donald Penn doesn't have a long track record for the Bucs to rely on.

"There's been some talk of that," Gruden revealed. "He is very comfortable over there. At this point in time, we're pretty excited about the return of (left tackle) Luke Petitgout and Donald Penn is a young guy who did some good things."

We bring this up because several possibilities seem to be on the table along the offensive line, including an outside chance third-round pick Jeremy Zuttah gets a crack at right tackle. His selection in the third round is rather high for a player who no one projects as a potential starter. Our guess is the Bucs think he can be an impact player. At worst, he'll be a major-league backup at guard and, Gruden said, probably center.

I think moving Trueblood to LT would be a mistake. He got burned many times by top-flight DE's. I like Penn and Petitegout. I am not that sold on Trueblood. He has to improve to get my vote. Your Thoughts

I agree

this was a waste dpick. what in the world were they thinking. another guard? come on! there were still a couple tackles left on the board at that point. even if we didnt go after a tackle why didnt we go after another cb?

Tim

Trueblood’s staying where he is. Watch Grudens post draft speech when the question was asked, Gruden shrugged off the question and stated he likes Penn and Petitigout at that position. This is typical Stephen Holder looking for anything to write. Watch the press conference for your self’s, it’s not going to happen.

Actually, he played tackle his last 2 years from what I've read, so I'm not sure why he is listed at guard? They say he can play any position. Being an academic stud and versatile player, I don't see this being a bad pick at all. The Bucs did an excellent job in this draft of addressing needs and filling them.

Didn't the bucs move Kenyatta from right tackle to left? How did that go?Why not next year we pump Ronde up with some steroids and see if he can play rb like Tiki. Better yet lets surgically attach Stephen Holders head to Grudens shoulder so that Jon can have two heads? Sorry that can't be done Stephens head already wedged up his...

Nick (if that's your real name), that's real mature. Thanks for reading.
