Bucs sign four prospects

We told you last night that former USF receiver Amarri Jackson would be signing with the Bucs after his showing in the weekend's rookie mini-camp.

We now know he'll be joined by three others: Troy defensive tackle Chris Bradwell, Miami center John Rochford and Fresno State running back Clifton Smith.

The Bucs will have a chance to get a longer look at the quartet in the coming weeks when the team resumes offseason workouts. Because there's almost guaranteed to be further roster shuffling through the summer, it's not certain all four will make it to training camp. However, as of today, they are on the roster.

Coaches indicated over the weekend that Bradwell had made an impression, so his signing his no surprise. As for Rochford, he plays a position (center) where the Bucs are looking for depth. And Smith was a dynamic return man in college and could potentially provide a boost there, although second-round pick Dexter Jackson looks likely to handle return duties in 2008.

All four of today's signees participated in rookie camp on tryout contracts after going undrafted the previous weekend.

What about Tommy Blake?

yeah what happened to tommy boy???

Yeah, where's Blake? Pump him full of happy pills and get him out on the field!

on tbo.com it said tommy blake is goin to camp with them.

what an ignorant comment blane

Blake was in camp with them over the weekend, as has been stated in this blog several times. I was out there but I came away with the impression the Bucs weren't that impressed. Hate to say it, but teams will take chances on players who have character issues but the one thing they don't want is someone who has "issues" above the neck. I'm not saying anything is wrong with the guy, but his depression has already had a serious impact on his career (at TCU) and who's to say that won't happen again? Just playing devil's advocate here.

What the heck??? No quarterback???

Thanks Stephen. Please keep us posted if he does get another chance. I hear he's a great talent. I hope this doesn't add to his problems...

What´s the situation in DT positios? Is Jovan Haye singed? and finally Are rookies DT sufficiently nice for win the starting position or competing with Hye if he continuos in bucs roster? THX

The Bucs are going to be a force to reckon with this year. Go Bucs!

Brooks, Haye isn't technically signed, but he can't go elsewhere, either. He is trying to work out a long term deal and the Bucs' offer remains on the table. If they rescind it, he can opt to sign somewhere else because he'll no longer be their property. That's not gonna happen. There should be some competition on the line. They want to see what Dre Moore can do. He was playing under tackle during the rookie minicamp last weekend.

When does training camp begin anyway? Let the NFL games begin!! Go Bucs!!

Of all of the 2008 undrafted rookie prospects, I believe DT Chris Bradwell is the last man still standing in Training Camp.
