Bucs Nicholson tasered and arrested in bar scuffle

Bucs safety Donte Nicholson was tasered twice during a scuffle with police early Sunday morning at a St. Petersburg nightclub.

Nicholson, 26, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery and resisting arrest without violence. He was booked into Pinellas County jail at 3:35 a.m. Sunday and released at 6:50 a.m. after posting $300 bail.

The incident occurred around closing time at the Venue, a nightclub located at 2675 Ulmerton Road. According to Sgt. Jim Bordner, a spokesman for the Pinellas County Sheriff's office, there was a disturbance at the entrance at the club involving Nicholson's friend, Torrey Robinson, 31.

Authorities say Robinson tried to re-enter the Venue, which is against club policy, and encountered two off-duty deputies who were working as security guards. Robinson claimed he was a Buccaneers player and flashed an expensive watch which struck one of the security guards in the face.

Sheriff's deputies investigating the altercation had to deploy their Taser to subdue Robinson. While he was being handcuffed, another disturbance broke out involving Nicholson, who was told by deputies to roll on his stomach.

According to sheriff's reports, when Nicholson tried to get up, he was tasered with no effect. As Nicholson was trying to pull the probe of the Taser from his chest, he was tasered again and subdued.

Robinson also was charged with two misdemeanors, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence. He was released from Pinellas County jail at 6:52 a.m Sunday after posting $300 bail.

Nicholson was a fifth-round pick by the Bucs in 2005 from Oklahoma. He played in just one game last season and re-signed with the Bucs on June 21.

Please. All of you can spare me with your self-righteous diatribes. I grew up in the south and I’ve been arrested twice for ‘Resisting Arrest without Violence’ which I firmly believe translates to “ This young negro failed to answer with the requisite ‘yas massa, no massa’ and accompanying hambone dance.” They get insulted if a black person dares to look them in the eye and speak to them as equals, man to man without cowering in fear. I suspect that just like both of my cases, this will go before a judge who will promptly dismiss the charges.

DR

Self righteous diatribes and you're playing the race card without knowledge of what went on. When things go wrong, play the race card. Jonathan, are you a Jesse jackson and Al Sharpton fan? You're willing to defend someone who allowed his friend to impersonate a Bucs player? You were probably defending that man juice dumpster in Durham who claimed 3 white guys put it to her. How did the race card play out in that incident?

Uncle Tom

now Jonathan if youda jussa been a good ole boy like yo momma told you the evil, blonde-haired, blue-eyed demon Johnny Law mighta had mercy on yo soul

Jonathan

Yeah, DR you weren't there either. How do you know that Nicholson was 'letting his friend impersonate a player' and wasn't trying to grab his drunk friend and get him out of there so he didn't go to jail? Just because Sharpton and Jackson are idiots doesn't mean that cops don't harrass young black guys for no reason. It must be hard for you to see the truth with that white hood pulled over your head. Are you one of those people people can't see the forrest for...the burning crosses?

McGz

Well that went downhill fast...
Guys with money like that should be bringing the girls and drinks to their houses, not out at 2 am.

DR

Jonathan, everybody in jail is innocent. There is no way you did nothing to warrant your arrests. You're bitter with made up stories. If you were truly wronged than you should have hired a lawyer. You probably tried and the lawyer laughed. With your blog, you conveniently left out the reason why the cop was around you in the first place. You can't resist arrest unless you're getting arrested. What were you getting arrested for? Instead of blaming cops for being racists, why not look yourself in the mirror and honestly, ask yourself why did you put yourself in a position to be treated bad by 'racist' cop? Trying to be cool? Quit blaming others for your faults.

You call yourselves fans

This is retarded,I know theres not alot of Bucs news going on but I read this artical and there are so many comments that this one probley wont even be seen.Go to a real artical about the team and theres like ten comment, and whats with the editors letting these idiots post with vulgar word for kids to see,and I know some might think what kids would come to this site but actualy I wish they would because they would probley have more intresting comments than all of you people.

Jeff

Jonathan,

Your tone sounds much more racist than the cops you are accusing of racism.

I was busted for the same thing you were. I did nothing wrong in my mind. It was what it was. Oh...and btw I AM WHITE and the arresting officer was white.

Get off your pitty pot and move on. Race had nothing to do with your situation and more than likely nothing to do with this one either.

George W. Bush

Eh, you know kids can't read. I left them all behind.

Mark Fuhrman

Now, now, Jonathan, there is no such thing as a racist cop!
