Favre wants to consider more than Jets and Bucs
Quarterback Brett Favre has signed his reinstatement papers but may not file them until Monday or Tuesday.
Favre told Chris Mortensen of ESPN.com that he did not report with the Packers Sunday because general manager Ted Thompson pleaded with him to delay his arrival.
Thompson told Favre that he would not be able to compete for the starting job in Green Bay because it belongs to Aaron Rodgers.
Favre said Thompson asked him if he was interested in being traded. "Yeah, but not just to the teams you want me to go to,'' Favre said, relating his conversation with Thompson to ESPN.com.
Favre has asked for his release. The New York Jets and Bucs have expressed an interest in Favre.

Allen, please forget Favre, he doesn't want to be here. Why have a half hearted player here. Keep Garcia he is our QB

If that was truly Farve's words (and with media rumors we don't yet know for sure), we should drop the pursuit and fully support Garcia. We need to focus on who we have at camp and build on that. Garcia did a great job for us last year. With a stronger offensive line this year, more time to locate receivers and roam in the backfield, I expect another great season from him. He's a competitor.

Well that's all well and good if Favre's not on board. I certainly would hate to see us give up a high draft pick for a guy that might decide not to play for us.
Is there any talk of the Bucs talking to Terry Glenn?

Rumors are that the Bucs didn't want a possible 1st round draft pick on an incentive type trade.
Bad part is, the Bucs showed that they are not satisfied with Garcia and alienated their starting QB. This has had a bad impact on a lot of players in the locker room. Not a good move for the Bucs to show their cards.

What a perfect example of bad journalism and sheep. Favre never said he was not interested in the Bucs. He said he did not want the Packers dictating who he would be traded to. I'm sick of the soap opera-like muddle being spit out by (IQ of 50) media and the (IQ of 25) readers who believe the BS.

How does this have a bad impact on the guys in the locker room, exactly? The fact that their team might want to add a superior QB? But didn't do so at a high cost? How is this bad?

The Bucs need to have Jeff Garcia's back and close the book on the chapter of acquiring a headcase of a qb that wants to play for the Vikings anyway!

Bruce Allen need to remember the Jake Plummer fiasco and forget about Bret Favre.

Bucs absolutely need to trade for Favre, and then turn around and trade him to the Vikings for more than we give up for him.

I think Favre and the teams interested in him have succumbed to the the Madden curse and have gone completely insane.

Bruce Allen might be unapologetically ruthless, but he's not stupid! There's no way he will let the Packers screw him over up front or on the back end of a deal for Brett. He knows he doesn't "need" Favre, so he's gonna come at this from a position of strength.

Seriously, Rick Stroud. Seriously. Go end your life.

if favre wants to play football it shouldnt matter for who.if he really loves the game then play, and make it intreasting on the team you are traded to.why go to a team that you think will make it to the SB favre?superbowls should be earned not bought.

Make Garcia happy, give him the money he's wanted his whole career. A happy qb is a good qb.

The Bucs never showed their cards DR; this is complete media speculation. I realize this is an opportunity for you to be negative, but your off course and I don't think the locker room cares much anyway. McCown and Greise both looked very sharp this weekend. And Jon, are you talking about the Plummer fiasco that netted the Bucs mucho dinero for a seventh rounder?

Sign Favre if you can, but don't give them a #1 if we make the playoffs, because we are going to do that with or without him. Give them a #2 if he gets us to the NFC Championship game and a #1 for a SB appearance; that would be more appropriate. McCown and Greise looked very sharp this weekend connecting on 2 long bombs apiece in the 11 on 11 drills. Garcia will be fine and the depth is good, so don't go overboard to sign him. A third rounder would be perfect!

You don't think the locker room cares about personnel decisions? Have you ever played any sport at any level? Coaches have lost jobs over locker room issues. Petrino ran back to the college ranks because of personnel/locker room issues. Parcells walked away from coaching because he lost the locker room. It's hard to lead when you have no followers. If players believe that Garcia can get the job done and the team gets desperate for an overhyped egomaniac, it will be tough for the coach to smooth this over. If they get Favre and he throws 20+ picks again and they don't make the playoffs after Garcia took them there last year, there will be plenty of speculation about the move and heads will be rolling.
