Galloway has groin strain
Joey Galloway's strenuous offseason workouts got perhaps a little too aggressive.
He missed the first practice this morning because of a groin strain he suffered while doing conditioning in personal workouts.
Coach Jon Gruden said Galloway was doing some high-speed training when the injury occurred. Expect the Bucs to be very deliberate in how they approach the prospect of Galloway returning. They won't rush their top offensive weapon back into the lineup prematurely.
If this sounds familiar, well, it should. Galloway suffered a groin injury in his very first game with the Bucs, in 2004. He went on to miss the next six games and finished the season with 416 yards in 10 games.
Also, to update this morning's entry, Greg White has signed the original offer extended by the team and seemed resigned to his fate when I spoke with him this morning. He would have liked to have struck a multi-year deal, something in the three- to four-year range, but it's conceivable the sides can continue talking throughout the season.
To make room for White, cornerback Jonathan Hefney was released. He was a rookie free agent from the University of Tennessee.

What do you mean "top offensive weapon?" Galloway is the Bucs ONLY offensive weapon! They did nothing to improve the wide receivers and now their depth is being tested the first day of camp.

See, this is what previously posted on other articles. Bucs fans should not be concerned on whether or not they will sign Favre, it's trading the Mercedes for a Bentley, an upgrade that is unnecessary. Bucs fans should be concerned about the Wide Receiver position!!! The Buccaneers need another compliment to Joey Galloway! Maybe they got one in Bryant and Jackson, but how good would a Chad Johnson or a Larry Fitzgerald look opposite Joey?

Vince is usually right on with his perspective. Instead of pursuing a wishy washy QB(we know who he is)why don't we give Garcia a pay raise and go after Boldin. That would make a lot more sense and give the team a bona fide receiver. We have the cap space and relying on Galloway staying healthy is a iffy proposition.

Vince and Bucco, you guys talk like Chad Johnson and / or Anquan Boldin are actually available. Both teams turned down lucrative trade offers from other teams and clearly stated neither player was available. Why don't you guys jump on another team's bandwagon and take you bashing else where. You're lost when it comes to our team!

They need to keep Galloway on the same practice plan theyve done for the last 2 years, hes been successful that way and has stayed healthy which is the biggest key. I say keep him on the same limited practice plan so he stays healthy and we will see the same Galloway burn by corners again this year. Go Bucs!
