RB Jones to visit Bucs next week
Former Lions running back Kevin Jones is scheduled to visit the Bucs next week.
Jones, who is recovering from knee surgery, met with the Pittsburgh Steelers Wednesday, according to Dr. D.S. Ping, who is helping Jones rehabilitate his injury.
Jones conducted a workout June 29 in Saline, Mich., that was attended by representatives from four teams -- the Dolphins, Packers, Steelers and Lions.
Jones missed the first two games last season recovering from a foot injury that sidelined him for the final three games of 2006. Last season, he rushed for at least 70 yards in five games, including a season high 105, before injuring his right knee Dec. 23 against the Chiefs. He averaged 5.1 yards per carry in the Lions win over Tampa Bay last season.
Where the 5-foot-11, 225-pound Jones would fit into the Bucs' backfield is uncertain. Tampa Bay has Earnest Graham, Warrick Dunn and Michael Bennett at tailback. Cadillac Williams, who also is recovering from knee surgery, figures to begin training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
While Jones appears ahead of schedule, he could be limited to no contact in training camp for a few weeks. But Jones has no problem going to a team that will use the committee approach at running back.

I wonder how many running backs we need.... seems like its getting up there like quarterbacks!
but either way GO BUCS!

Gruden's going to run the ethiopian coast offense. He's going put 3 QBs in the shotgun formation with 3 RBs so you have to guess which one is going to get the ball hiked to him and which RB will get the handoff. They're going to run around like chickens with their heads cut off, it will cause mass confusion! The plays you can run with this system are endless. The man's a genius I tell ya!

If he has a really good work out, b-tch slaps Bruce Allen, does some cocaine in the parking lot and rapes a girl from USF, they could cut Graham or Dunn to make room and sign him by training camp.

I think that if Kevin Jones comes on Board with Tampa. Then what Tampa should do is to cut trouble maker in the communities where ever he goes. Then possible of using one of the 5 running back veterans and move Him to backup Full back. That I think Graham could be that FB slot. With Jones, Bennett, Cadillac and Dunn rotations. Can you Imagine the Double trouble that those duo backs could create havic. Example: Cadillac and Dunn; Bennett and Jones or any 4 combo's. GO Bucs

If the Bucs do end up signing Kevin Jones then they must be thinking about trading Cadillac Williams or some other RB.

what did gruden ask for this offseason? oh thats right speeeeeeeed! K.Jones ran a 4.3 40-yard in that workout for the steelers, lions, packers, and dolphins. I do believe that is a hell of a lot faster than graham and dunn a just a little bit slower than Bennett. If the Bucs do sign jones then you could see bennett go out the door thru that trade with simms just so the bucs can seal the deal for glenn.

Go ahead and sign him...we didn't call him "BROKE BACK JONES" for nothing Detroit.

why not ban joebuc? as far as jones I dont think he signs here it would seem green bay would give him the best chance to play the most... and the lions let him go but they attended his workout?

I am scratching my head, wondering why he's had no offers... I would be happy to have his speed on the team, but I think there may still be some health issues. Cadillac may be finished completely.

Huh? I didn't understand a word of this. Do they teach grammar in school anymore?

I may be in the minority, but I for one believe that Cadillac will be ready to go at training camp. He has not had contact yet, but is running sprints and the stairs everyday.
"Go Bucs"

cut bennet to make space for jones. trade simms for glenn. trade graham & stovall for Farve.

Kevin Jones would be best running back in Bucs backfield, IF HEALTHY...

Aaaron: Thank God you are NOT the GM for the Bucs. Jones could be a "medical" liability. Stovall is great on special tesms & this might be his break out year. Glenn is "washed up". If Cowboys want Sims then give the Bucs a 3rd rnd draft pick. Favre: had GREAT offensive line in Green Bay & not sure Bucs are right for him. Team chemistry would be "killed". G White would freak out if Bucs paid Favre $12 million while he is getting zero. Bucs need defensive studs. That's how NY Giants won the last Super Bowl.
