Report: Favre plans to return to Packers
Brett Favre told Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson during a telephone conversation Thursday that he is planning to return to the Packers and report to training camp this weekend, according to a story on NFL.com.
Favre is expected to fax a letter seeking reinstatement to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell as early as today. The Packers report to camp on Sunday.
Favre still could decide to stay retired or the Packers could trade him. But at this point, all indications are that Favre plans to spend the season with the Packers, the story says.

he still may be traded... but lets hope he isn't. I want Garcia as our starting QB on opening day and McCown as our backup.

According to reports released today the Jets have received permission to talk to Favre.

The Packers desperately don't want Favre to be a Viking, so why dont we trade for him, then get a boatload from Minnesota for him in another trade? Maybe Chester Taylor and have mo more questions about who our feature back will be. Or Sidney Rice, a young tall fast reciever?

If we turn around and trade him to Minn. we'll owe the Packers major draft picks. They'll include in a package (if traded) that if we trade him to a division rival of the Pack, they'll get compensated greatly from it.

Shane,
How are my facts wrong? All I said was it's being reported the Jets have permission to talk to Favre. Is that not a true statement? Not mentioning the Bucs doesn't mean I don't have my facts straight.

I hope you're right Billy. It'll give me one more reason to absolutely hate this team. What team thinks they need to upgrade a Pro-Bowl QB? Only these Buccaneers would do something so patently stupid.

Any trade that goes through for Favre will have stipulations that he will not be able to be traded to the North division, that is pretty much a guarantee.

bull if you don't post all the facts then they're not all there right? seems like your curving around the fact that the bucs can talk to him too.

Kevin did you read my post on the other blog about how jeff got into the Pro Bowl? The only way Jeff got into the Pro Bowl was when another QB dropped out of the game. What was that QB's name again lemme think lemme think...oh yeah his name was Brett Farve. And if you still don't think he is a needed upgrade then heres another fact on that position. It doesn't seem like a bad idea to upgrade a Pro Bowl player with a future Hall of Fame player now does it.

WOW! Shane just got his @SS handed to him!

Being that I'm not the writer of this page, I don't have to post all the facts. This item was posted here and a few minutes later other places were saying the Jets had received permission to talk to him (probably the reason this very site also posted links to that news soon after this post). I was simply adding to this story about Favre reporting that the Jets had been given permission to talk to him. I'm not leaving anything out with any intentions of doing so on purpose. I'm not the reporter here, it's not my job (or anyone else's who adds comments) to make sure they put the entire story. That and look at the last 25 posts on Bucs' Beat. 7 are about Farve. This is a blog about the Bucs. I was adding to the story that there is another team talking to him as well. The people who run this blog already handle the Bucs' news.

If we give a 2nd round pick for Favre we are dumb. There is no way we should give up anything more than a 4th round pick. There is no other team that wants him and we have a pro bowl QB that already knows the system. What are we thinking!?
I like Favre, but this is not a smart move.
