Talib's big deal: $14-million
We told you earlier rookie cornerback Aqib Talib was preparing to sign his deal. We've since learned some of the particulars.
According to NFL.com, Talib signed a 5-year, $14-million deal. Of that, $8.2-million is guaranteed.
Talib will join a heated competition in the secondary, where the Bucs are quite deep at cornerback. He likely will be in a battle with Phillip Buchanon for the starting job at left cornerback.

thats a pretty good price but the guaranteed is a little high

good that we have him on-board. Rookies need all the time to learn that they can...

LOL... yet we signed Gaines Adams to a 6 year $38 Million deal with $15 Million guaranteed...
what a difference a year and a position makes... Brian Kelly is surprised.

the difference between talib and adams is alot bigger than a year and position. adams was a top 5 pick and graded as such. I bet talib would have gotten a bigger payday than adams if he had been taken 5th this year.. but he wasn't picked until 20th

That guaranteed money is great as long as you dont go and do something stupid with a once-apparent drug problem and get busted.
Thats a lot of money to throw at a kid who admitted some drug usage (yeah its pot, big deal, but still, the NFL is all over that) and as such has become a risk/liability.
