White on the way

We're told by the agent for defensive end Greg White that the player will report to camp this morning and participate in practices.

White was a no-show by Friday's 4 p.m. reporting deadline, but agent Jack Bechta said White will sign his contract tender, ending his monthslong dispute.

An exclusive-rights free agent, White was hoping to secure a long term deal largely because he is entering his second NFL season at 29. But the Bucs were under no obligation as White is prohibited from negotiating with any other club.

He led the Bucs in 2007 with eight sacks but will have to compete with veterans Kevin Carter and Marques Douglas for a starting role at left defensive end.

Comments

On buccaneers.com it is reported that White has a deal done. Neither the times or TBO have anything on this. Please find out what the deal is and report something on it. Its not even my job and I found out easily.

Yes... the deal is that he signed his contract tender. Thats considered a deal.

Mike, what are you talking about??

The other papers have nothing on this, and the Bucs website is saying only that he'll report.

Give Stephen credit where it's due.

He reports he agent as saying that White signed his tender......... I think that's huge!! BA didn't budge, and will be talking throughout the season to White's agent. (presumably)

I think it gives White a chance to prove himself and an incentive to have an even better season!!

Once again, the Bucs FO made the smart move...... and by signing the tender, so did White!!

Why does it always gotta be white? Why can't it be black?

Just another case of the "Man" holdin a brother down!

Cos Black is already under contract silly!

This one is simple! They want him hungry and working hard to prove himself worthy of a better deal! There is nothing faster, stronger, and more pumped than a an athlete on a one year deal!

He is UNDER a one-year deal to COVER his pay until the BROTHER can get some love.
