Bucs add a little OL insurance
The Bucs reacted to the loss of Davin Joseph by signing guard Phil Bogle today. He took the spot opened when fullback J.D. Runnels was released, just four days after joining the Bucs on Saturday.
Bogle has been with the Bucs before, spending parts of the 2005 and 2006 offseasons on the roster. He never made it past the preseason either time and spent the last two years with the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League.
This is a move likely made to provide adequate depth for the Bucs to get through their final two preseason games.

finally the tiger woods like player i was waiting for

Stephen, does Petigout's suspension begin when the season starts or when (if) he is picked up by somebody?
Posted by: Vince | August 20, 2008 at 08:30 PM
I didn't use steroids!!!

Vince, the suspension begins if and when he is signed. You can't serve the suspension while a free agent. He has to be on a roster first. He's probably going to have a hard time getting picked up considering his knee issues and, now, the steroids suspension.

Stephen, any word on the Bucs making an offer for A. Boldin. I can see a trade with M. Claton and a mid round pick for the AZ WR, the Bucs have the cap to sign Boldin to a new deal.

Not true Stephen. The guy can sign in any Professional football league and the suspension still counts. As long as he is classifying his profession as football with the IRS and collecting his income from that profession, the suspension will count. I just spoke to my accountant and he confirmed that.

Runnels was released! Ohhhhhhhhhhhh Nooooooooooooo
Posted by: Mr. Bill | August 21, 2008 at 01:44 AM
DR,
This is why you are flat broke, homeless and begging me for cash. I said that if he was sued in a court of law and had a judgement against him tey could doc his wages. If he joined the CFL, this would not hold true because the NFL would have to domesticate the jusdgement in Canada. If he went to the Arena league, that league would have to recognize the NFL policies to enforce it. You hear what you want to hear and ignore the rest. That makes you dangerous, stupid and the source of false rumors. By the way, you are 90 days past due on my fees. Pay up you loser!

I was told if I used steroids as a supository it would not show up on my urinalysis. That's the last time I listen to DR.

We never asked Petitgout to leave. He left on his own. We never hired Runnels, we do not even know who he is. We never made an offer to Bogel, he is just the waterboy.

Stephen,
You're forgetting about the few guys in the NFL they had suspensions and then were never signed and Goodell came out and said that the suspension was served (Antonio Bryant recently did this). I don't think Luke gets picked up by anybody, coming off an injury and considering he is always hurt and older, teams will likely stay away from him this season. Some team may be willing to bring him into camp next year but I think this year is over for Luke.

Man, you guys are losers trying to impersonate me. Who gives a crap about Petitgout? That fat sissy won't sign with another team, his career is over. Who really wants a guy who can't play more than 3 downs without getting hurt? And first have to wait for him to serve a suspension? Maybe he'll get on a CFL team where he can smoke all the dope he wants. There really isn't anything wrong with that.
Posted by: DR | August 21, 2008 at 07:08 AM
Petitgout should hire DR's CPA to represent him. That's guy is smart and funny.

Man, sometimes I don't know whether we've created a blog or an insane asylum. This place can get really weird.

Stephen, you’re being too kind. Many of these buffoons just love to attempt cleverness and see their name (or usually their alias) in “print”.
DR, I believe Ricky Williams played in the Canadian League while suspended in the NFL.

As to steroid use by Petitgout, it is an accepted medical practice by doctors to treat knee injuries with steroids. I know...3 times they've injected me and it works...last resort before surgery. Should be an exception when administered by a doctor. The guy is not a druggie, just fragile and probably now retired.
Posted by: CVal | August 21, 2008 at 08:44 AM
Steve, I know Williams did play. The NFL is the NFL and has no say on anything else. There is no minor league so a suspension in the NFL means nothing to any other league.
CVal, are you talking about the three week synvisc shot to the knee? If you are, its a non steroid treatment and its used to delay surgery. Shots to the knee are fun aren't they? ha

Happy Trails Petitgout, now let's sing Anquan Boldin! Assuming Bryant has a break out season, Dexter becomes a stud, Clayton returns to form, and Galloway breaks his own records, WE STILL NEED Boldin!... Every team needs Boldin! Sign him now and let's be laden with the leagues best talent at the WR position. It certainly hasn't hurt the chances in Indi, New England, and the like! Imagine how great Graham and company will run the ball with Boldin added to take pressure off the run game?

An “accepted medical practice” for laymen isn’t necessarily accepted by the NFL. This practice/therapy needs to fall within the NFL’s guidelines too (I would think that an NFL team/physician would be well aware of the substances banned from the league and would proceed cautiously, or at least get approval as necessary). This is belaboring the point though. Pettigout just didn’t work out. We have bad luck with veteran lineman trying to squeeze another year out of their bodies. Hopefully Penn spent some time in the weight room this off season to bring him up to par with the rest of the line. Even with Zuttah replacing Joseph we should have a very solid, powerful line- particularly for run blocking. And with Garcia’s propensity to roll out nearly every passing play, this bodes well for him too.

I'm wondering why everyone assume's Zuttah is taking over for Davin,... there's no guarantee that will happen,.. he'll get a chance, but Buenning holds quite an edge in experience and size...
Posted by: Jim | August 21, 2008 at 10:25 AM
Buenning holds an edge in training room experience. Yes, he has a few years on Zuttah, but aside from his best year (which was- yes- his rookie year) he’s been injured and when not injured, trying his hand at C. Zuttah will get every chance to keep the seat warm until Joseph is healthy. If he falters, Buenning will be available. I wasn’t aware that there was a significant size difference…
