Bucs cut four, move Cadillac to reserve PUP
The Bucs have announced several moves that enable them to get to today's mandatory 75-man roster, waiving linebacker Antoine Cash (injured), safety Donte Nicholson (injured), and receiver Paris Warren. Cornerback Sammy Davis (hip) was placed on injured reserve.
In addition, running back Cadillac Williams has been placed on the Reserve Physically Unable to Perform list, meaning he must remain inactive for at least the first six weeks of the regular season. During that time, he cannot practice with the team. This is not a major surprise given the depth of the offensive backfield and the Bucs' plans to bring Williams along slowly.
Among those who were waived, Cash (neck) and Nicholson (knee) must clear waivers, then would automatically be placed on injured reserve if not claimed. If Warren, who is not injured, clears waivers, he becomes a free agent.
It was somewhat surprising that Warren was the first receiver cut, what with others like Cortez Hankton and longshot Brian Clark remaining on the roster.

You know, it's completely unkind to revel in someone else's suffering. However, it's a burden I'm willing to take on. I didn't win the lottery this weekend, don't particularly care for my job, and have issues maintaining a steady relationship, but I'll be damned if seeing Sammy Davis get cut didn't make my life seem a lot better.

These moves were expected as other teams wouldn't be so inclined as to pick up an injured player. Also, Cadillac can continue rehab because we have to fortune of a three headed backfield and a fullback blocker.

WoW Jay I could not have said it better myself with Davis. Glad to see Spurlock survived the first set of cuts...

Sammy Davis was put on IR and not cut - your life still sucks Jay!

Someone will pick up Paris. Glad we kept Clayton. When do we send Simms to Dallas? VegasSports com

E. Mack is gonna make the team baby!!

Jay, that is freakin' hilarious! If Sammy Davis makes the team, I'm going to get in the gym and try out next year!
I like this kid Matt McCoy. Looks like a nice backup to our stud MLB. I also like Byron Storer. He's got some nastiness and some very good football skills.
We're pretty thin at offensive tackle. I'm not too confident in Anthony Davis or Chris Denman.

Jay, i think everyone here owes you a beer at the Atlanta game! Or we could put that money to another use like buying Davis' bus ticket.

Somebody give that man (Jay) his own column!!!
I haven't laughed like that since Bruce Allen's Favre debacle press conference...

What's with Sammy Davis, does the guy suck? I haven't been watching the preseason games past the 1st quarters.

Sammy Davis was great with the Rat Pack.

Johnny: if we dug THAT Sammy Davis up, he could probably still cover Steve Smith better.

I want to nominate Jay for the best and funniest comment so far. I watched Sammy Davis played last year and that guy has no clue what he is doing out there. Tom, I'll be right there with you in the gym if somehow Davis makes it back on tthe team because my dream of becoming a football player is not that far fetch.

I bet Carolina picks up Warren. They have an injury ridden recievers core and need decent players. I would hate to see him go to a conference rival, even though he is not an outstanding threat.

Warren couldn't cut it in Tampa, what makes you think he could cut it anywhere else? Tampa has a weak group of WRs that is led by a guy who hasn't played ball in over a year, Thug Bryant.
I'm glad to see Caddy on the PUP. There is no reason to rush back from an injury like his. Take time and make sure its 100% healed before anything else. Good move.

I personally love all the questioning of the radio types on the cuts. This morning Sileo made me laugh out loud when he said that Clayton flat out sucks. But then he said he'd rather have Paris Warren than Clayton. Huh? Maybe Clayton should be cut but not before Warren, no way. If Sileo was such a great talent scout, why is he on the radio? He's got all the ins to the football world and all he can get is a show in the local market? Keep that in mind big guy.
