Coach: Packers' "train leaving station" without Favre
In Green Bay, Packers coach Mike McCarthy spoke to the media after having elaborate conversations with
Brett Favre. He wouldn’t address trade possibilities, but it definitely appears that Favre's days in with the Packers are over.
"The football team is moving forward,” McCarthy said. “The train has left the station, whatever analogy you want. He needs to jump on the train and let’s go or if we can’t get past all the things that happened … I have to keep the train moving.”

As a season ticket holder for more than 20 years,Why do we even think about going for Favre ? We don't need him,the cost will be way too high. He is not worth big money AND draft picks, for what ? 1 year , maybe two ? If the Bucs do make this stupid move and don't win the Superbowl, it would be a huge waste and Gruden AND Allen should get their walking papers. If Favre is so great , why is Green Bay not wanting him back ?

I got to be honest, I watched the press conference today at 6 for about 45 mins. and McCarthy spoke for a long time, but said very little. I figured the point of this Press Conference was to announce a trade, release or that everything was cool in Green Bay.
I have to admit, it is intriguing to think of Brett Favre in Pewter....but could he grasp the offense this quickly and take Tampa to the SB? If it was an open competition....could he beat out Garcia with Garcia's knowledge of Gruden's system? I know he is a phenomenal athlete...and I do want the best players for the team....but adding him may disrupt some chemistry on the Bucs squad. It may also lead to us to the big game.
Regardless....we will see what happens in the days to come. Go Bucs!!!

How can any true Buc fan NOT want Favre on this team? Garcia was so great last year that we stunk up the joint in our one and done playoff game. It is all about winning now. Why else would we have a 38 year old quarterback who doesn't know how to slide leading our team with his aged but fast wide receiver practicing against our aged but timeless linebacker and cornerback? Rent him, lease him, buy him, whatever. Let's just get back to the Super Bowl. 6 years is a LONG time.

The Green Bay Packers asked Brett Favre a simple question after losing in the NFC CHAQMPIONSHIP GAME, will you be the QB of the Green BAy PAckers in 2008? Favre said F you, i'm retiring. The Packers, doing what a good business should do, moved on and put together a new offensive game plan for a mobile QB, which Favre has never been, and they spent months implementing this new game plan. Now that ESPN has moved on and the new Madden c*** sucking Favre game hasn't arrived yet, hey, Favre wants to play ball again.
Anybody who wants this overrated HOF QB clown, go ahead and inherit the 15 INTs he will throw. Heck, he may throw a bonus 6 in the playoffs. Make sure the locker room is big enough for his ego.

i have spent some time reading all the comments about Favre coming to tampa. some are viable opinions and some are from morons. The Bucs are not going to get him just to trade him. we all know that Gruden is a player pack rat. I personally not sure if it worth getting him cause he is not going to play for more than a year or two how fast will he pick up the system?
But how long will Garcia be here? Jeff already knows the system and he took us to the play offs. As a life long fan the only sure thing is that since Gruden and Bruce Allen have taken over, for better or worse. Our players have been shafted, released, treated unfairly (remember Lynch) and i as a fan find that to be very poor. Im not sure if the Glazers have anything to do with it. But this team has not been the same. Does Loyalty mean anything anymore?

i thought the press conference would be to announce brett coming to the bucs. i read earlier in the day that this was the first time bruce allen has ever missed a practice session. it was suspected he went to mississippi to meet with brett's agent bus cook.
perhaps the bucs are trying to do this on the cheap like they did previously and missed getting jarad allen that went to the vikings. the bucs are probably low balling the draft pick the packers want and also trying to get bus cook to agree to an incentive based restructuring of brett's contract.

Just one more thing i dont know if it will still be there when you read this. look to the right of this page and you see small pics of the front pages of the times where Sapp is holding Gruden after wining the Superbowl with the headline that says CHAMPS. What you dont see is the Knife that Gruden is holding to stab him in the back. What you do see is Gruden smiling as if he's thinking We Won! We Won! I cant wait to get rid of you.

George, do not put too much faith in Wisconsin newspapers, didn't they report cell phone incident that was proved wrong by commisioner? I would not believe any Wisconsin newspaper at this point, lie for packers all they want.

Brett Favre to the Tampa Bay Bucs? What a Headline. This would truly bring Tampa Bay Buccaneers a heapload of exposure and attention. Hopefully not a distraction which has definitely been the case with the Green Bay Packers and their indecision on what to do with Brett Favre. Be Wise Bucs. Ask yourself the question, who's the better quarterback? Brett Favre or Jeff Garcia? Answer Brett Favre
